We live in a world that revolves around society's skewed concept of perfection.
We strive to look just like the icons on social media—they get so much love by having the perfect body and skin.
We want to feel that love, too.
We try so hard to change ourselves.
We hide every flaw and piece of ourselves that make us who we are.
We plaster a smile on our face in public because we don't want the world to know how we really feel. Anything except happy is unacceptable.
We try every diet and workout routine there is, hoping to one day fit into size two jeans like the Victoria's Secret models we see on TV.
We have this voice inside our head telling us that we aren't good enough.
We hear it say, "Be skinnier. Be tanner. Be taller."
We believe the words that echo in our heads.
We learn from others to hate ourselves.
We see the stares and become self-conscious.
We hear the whispers.
We think to ourselves, "They're right."
We buy the latest style.
We wear less to try and impress others.
We still get judged.
We still get talked about.
We still are hated for the things they do, too.
We don't understand why.
We keep living like this every day.
We wake up feeling worthless.
We fake our happiness.
We post smiling pictures on social media.
We live for the next like on our post.
We live to look like the people on the cover of Vogue.
We live life fearful of what others think of us.
We live off of the attention that we strive for.
We live thinking that beauty is someone who is airbrushed and Photoshopped.
We live in a world full of hypocrites and liars.
We live based on the words that scream at us in our minds.
We live believing that we are not beautiful.
We live thinking that to be beautiful, we need to be perfect.
We live striving for perfection.
We need to live the life we want to live and not the life others think we should live.
We need to realize that the only way to feel beautiful is to be you.
We need to stop thinking that we have to hide the things we don't like about ourselves.
We need to stop believing other people's ideologies of beauty.
We need to stop letting others tell us how to look.
We need to stop letting others control how we feel about ourselves.
We need to accept who we are because we are made exactly how we are supposed to be.
We need to start showing love to others instead of hate.
We need to think of ourselves as art, all beautiful in our own way.
We can change the way we think of ourselves.
We can change the way others think of themselves.
We are society.
We need to change.
