Snapchat right now is one of the most popular social media apps used at the moment. Recently, the app has come out with filters that people use to express themselves. One filter in particular has gotten a lot of attention by people; the dog filter has received controversy by many for no reason.

As I was scrolling through social media I noticed that many people were sexualizing the filter calling it "a hoe filter". I couldn't comprehend how someone could be called such crude names over a filter but it is the new trend amongst people in social media. I wanted to see what others thought about this and the results angered me; people actually called others hoes for protecting themselves. I saw one video that said "to all the females that use the dog filter", automatically calling out females because we shouldn't compare ourselves to dogs because they're loyal, and we are not. Obviously the part where it states that all females are not loyal is untrue; then in the comments I saw women standing up for themselves and others commenting on their posts calling them rude names for no reason.

People fail to believe that this is a form of bullying. Not only that but it is also sexist, and the worst part was that I saw women calling other women names. This is so mean and unnecessary because it really is just a filter, and women are just trying to have a good time and feel cute about themselves when they post it, but the aftermath is that they get judged and called names for doing so.

The logic in all of this is nonexistent; a girl posts a simple photo with a cute filter and is judged moments after she posts it. I've heard people say, "don't post that, that's the hoe filter", and that amazes me because the fact that in today's society people have to sexualize a filter is beyond me. A filter is something that is meant to be fun and enjoyable, yet here people are sexualizing a dog nose and ears for no apparent reason.

Everyone needs to open their eyes and see this is wrong. If someone wants to post a picture of themselves they should do it with no problem. Yes maybe it has been used many times, but so what? Many things are overused and overplayed, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun.

Not to mention the new recent flower crown filter is now being sexualized also. Someone put on social media, "So the flowers are the new thot filter?" How incredible is it that we live in a society where people are judged for feeling cute and confident with themselves? The fact that a man can post the same exact photo with the same exact filter and be told nothing but when a female uses it she is automatically called names and is being put down by others.

It is time to stop this bullying and instead let people be. Stop worrying over a filter and start worrying about actual problems. Stop caring about what girls post as their pictures, let them look cute and let them feel confident. No one should be put down for how they look in a photo, it's mean and unnecessary.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
