We all know that one person who plays the "victim card", and let's be honest... it's time to stop it. There are many types of victim cards played. Here are just a few:
1. Female
Females tend to play the victim card claiming that they don’t have the same rights as men. I get that us females may not be getting paid as much but some females get paid way more than men. If you want more pay or what have you, work for it. Prove to everyone that you deserve it. We have a female running for President for Pete’s sake.
2. Minorities
All minorities, whether it be black, Mexican, Asian, etc, individual, play the minority card in the same way that females do. They also play the victim card in such that they feel they are discriminated. I understand that some minorities do get discriminated against… but not everyone is racist or discriminates. The excuses need to stop. We have a black president!
3. Minimum Wage Workers
Minimum wage workers, or low income workers always claim that they don’t have good benefits, nice items, or can’t afford certain things because of their job. The job is not the problem, it’s the person. If you want nice things there are ways around it. Budget your money. They also claim that the can’t find another job, but where there is a will there is a way. There are always ways to find a better job or a job you are happier doing. It takes the self will to find it.
4. Millennials
Yes. I know. I am a millennial. However, we need to STOP playing the victim. We always say we can’t or don’t know how. Why don’t we change something about it?! Why is it that we sit here and let all the other generations call us lazy and narcissistic? We should be changing that point of view on our generation and making a change. We are the future of our country so why don’t we act like it and prove to everyone what we are here to do? Why don’t we continue to push ourselves to do better and be better instead of just playing the victim card?
There are many more victim cards that people play every day. I just decided to highlight a few that I believe are the most prominent. Playing the victim card tends to separate the country. If we stop playing the victim card it will bring people together rather than tearing us apart. You aren't oppressed because of your race, gender, age, job, etc. You are oppressed because you see yourself that way and separate yourself by being the victim... So please… STOP playing the victim card!
