Stop Blaming Millennials For Everything

We're not the problem here

Stop Blaming Millennials For Everything
Zero Hedge

The Millenial generation is described as the kids born between the mid 1980s and the early 2000s. I am a Millennial. All of my friends, both my cousins and probably you reading this, would qualify as Millenials. I enjoy being a Millenial and although every other generation seems to hate us, I'm gonna tell them all why I'm not sorry about that.

They are constantly blaming our lifestyle on technology. All the other generations never fail to point out how much time we spend on our phones. I'm (not) sorry that y'all didn't grow up with technology like we did. It's also ironic that the moment something goes wrong, the old people always come to us for help with their electronics. Also, I see plenty of adults constantly on their phones too so why is it only a problem when we do it?

They make jokes about us constantly. They say that we're all narcissistic and self-centered. We are nicknamed the "Me" generation because of this. I'm (not) sorry that we don't believe in living to get married off and working crappy jobs until we die. We long for happiness and self-fulfillment, is that so wrong?

EVERYTHING is our fault. Everything bad that happens is blamed on the Millenial generation. Although, if there weren't so many baby boomers to support, I'd have a shot at social security when I get older. If the world ended tomorrow, I'm sure that would be blamed on Millenials too! And if you personally do something wrong, your failure is blamed on the fact that you are a Millenial.

They talk about how sensitive and politically correct we are. It's not so much that we are sensitive, it's that we realize what's wrong and aren't afraid to speak out against it. On the note of being too politically correct, I'd say we're just being respectful and not ignorant.

I feel as though the older generations feel threatened by us. They hate that we don't hold to their outdated, antiquated ideals. Tradition is much less important to us than creativity is. We have our own agenda, ideas and way of life. And for some reason, that's terrifying to them. Unlike the older generations, we don't want to live like our parents did just because that's what we know. I'm not saying go and disrespect your elders, I'm just saying that we should demand the respect in return that we give to them. I never thought asking for respect could be so difficult but when people have no regard for your generation and who you are and what you represent, it can hurt. Old people voted for Trump and voted to leave the EU so I really don't think Millennials are the problem. We grew up with technology, we want better for ourselves, we are respectful and we're not your scapegoat. Get over it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
