Stop, and smell the roses.

The Little Things In Life

Our lives are like an ongoing train: It’s ever-moving and impossible to get off. It is so important that we take the time to slow down and realize the little things which, all too often, we take for granted. While we are aware of these feelings we get every day, we seldom take the time to appreciate them. When you connect all of the dots between the little things, life seems so full and satisfying. So I’ve come up with a list of the things that I believe make life worth living.

1. Getting into your comfy bed after an especially long day

2. Receiving a compliment from a stranger

3. Watching the rain fall from the comfort of your home

4. Warm clothes straight from the dryer

5. Finding money in your pocket you didn’t know you had

6. Having a good hair day

7. Looking up at the stars on a warm, summer night

8. Making someone laugh

9. The first cup of coffee in the morning

10. Listening to your favorite song on repeat

11. Getting a great hug from someone who you care about

12. Seeing a rainbow

13. Singing in the shower

14. The smell of fresh-cut grass in the springtime

15. Hitting all the green lights in a row

16. Watching the sunrise or the sunset

17. Using a new eraser for the first time

18. Seeing your breath on a cold, winter day

19. The changing leaves in the fall

20. Not being able to put down a good book

21. The "class tomorrow is canceled" e-mail

22. A pan of freshly baked cookies

23. Going to bed without an alarm set for the morning

24. Something so funny it makes you laugh out loud

25. Starting a new TV show and loving it

26. Rays of sunlight shining through the trees

27. An afternoon nap

28. Randomly bumping into a friend you haven’t seen in awhile

29. Seeing fireflies light up the night

30. Imagining the clouds as animals or objects

31. Running through a sprinkler

32. A long walk in beautiful weather

33. Being able to wear shorts on a randomly warm day in the winter

34. The perfect ratio of peanut butter to jelly in your sandwich

35. Receiving a letter in the mail

36. The moment when you and your friend say the same thing that the same time

Take time to enjoy the little things in life. These little moments are what make the big things. The ability to draw happiness from the little things in life would help you to live a more fulfilling, beautiful life. Stop, and smell the roses.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
