Midnight Madness: A favorite tradition of Stonehill College students when we all gather together to kick off the basketball season. The event lasts from 10:45-12:30 and captures an experience that involves a rapid temperature change, chaotic screaming, and intense dancing that creates a long-lasting bond within the student body.

1. What should I wear?


2. Should I buy something new?

3. We look SO CUTE.

4. Oh no, it's cold outside.

5. But it will be hot in the gym so it's okay.

6. Why is everyone walking that way?


7. Don't they know the gym is over here?

8. I feel bad for the kid who is clearly trying to get back to his dorm to do homework.

9. Wow there are so many people.


10. It's 10:45. Why is the lobby not open?

11. There is not enough room for all of us.

12. IT'S SO HOT.


13. What if I lose my friends?

14. Where am I going to stand once we get in?

15. What if I fall down the stairs?


16. Did that guy just push me on purpose?

17. Those boas and tutus are so cute! I should have done that.

19. We've definitely been standing here for 10 minutes and we definitely haven't moved.

30. YAS the girls basketball team has so much swag.

32. Maybe one of the boys basketball players will throw me a t-shirt.

33. Okay that's cool throw them both to the other side.

35. Is that a free throw competition? Well they suck.

36. FEW TIMES SPIN AROUND THAT TRACK.

38. YAS RUCKUS.

39. Are those random people having a dance off?

41. Everyone knows this song but me.

42. Did they even keep score during the three-point competition?


43. What's the deal with the cheerleaders?

44. Oh I feel so bad their music isn't working.

45. At least they're good at doing tricks!

47. The cheerleaders finally did their routine!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
