As I’m writing this the date is January 23rd, 2017 and I am stuck waiting. Counting the minutes as they turn to hours, and the hours turn to days, and so on and so forth until a specific day. I know that I am not alone in doing this either, we all have something we are looking forward to. For some of us, that thing could be close, like counting the minutes until you can get out of class. I however have been waiting for a longer time and this is very unfortunate.
See looking ahead is a great thing, it structures what you are going to do. You know on this day something is going to happen and you work in preparation of that day. And you finally get stuff done in advance, and clear your schedule for that one day so you can enjoy yourself. And right now I’m there, I have a specific plan for when I’m going to write papers and do work, just so I have that day. But looking now I realize something, which is why I say I have been waiting too long. The problem for me is the internet, everyone says the thing you need to avoid online are spoilers. We spoiler tag everything because many of us want to experience media first hand, with as little biases as possible. The problem with the waiting is now I want to see the spoilers, I want to know everything that could maybe happen, because I’ve worked myself into looking for any source of news.
If you’re waiting for something to come out, movie, game, television show whatever, the best thing you can do is just to not look at anything in the first place. Mark a calendar, count the days, just distract yourself. The more you look into things the more you build yourself up. The more you build yourself up the more you want to look at spoilers. Even if you resist the spoilers, building yourself up is bad. Hype is good in small doses, when you keep building, and building on the hype is where you make a mistake. Nothing will ever live up to the standards that hype builds for you. Do you really think the months, (or sometimes years) of build you have given are attainable. When you push something this hard
