An Open Letter to My Step Mom

A step mom is a crucial part of a broken up family because she sets things back into motion. My step mom is one of the greatest out there, and she was there when I went through the worst time of my life. You were my rock, and I am grateful for you.

You took me to my appointments when I could not drive, and during that time is when you taught me some very good life lessons that I need, especially now during high school and entering college. Thank you for taking the time to treat me like your own daughter and teach me things I needed to know instead of letting me mess up. I did have a lot of mess ups but thank you for being there to set me on the right path.

Without you, I would not be the person I have become today. I look up to you, and I admire what you do for the family and all of the sacrifices you must make in order to be with our family. Thank you for pushing me to do my best in everything and setting high standards so I am nothing less than what I want to be.

Thank you for looking out for me and keeping my best interest in mind when you make parental decisions, and thank you for stepping in when I needed a mother figure. Thank you for dressing me up for dances, taking me school shopping, taking me out to lunch or even telling me funny jokes when I am feeling down.

One last thing: thank you for being a parent when I needed one. Sometimes I may take you for granted, but I am very happy that you are in my life, and I am indeed grateful for all of the influence you have had on my life.

Thank you for being a great step mom.
