Hands

Feel them

Like wisdom they are

Intelligent, they have felt the privacy of

Intimacy, hands of pain, hands of

Understanding, full of lines and scars

They have been through it all

I believe that body parts can tell stories. My hands can tell you the stories of resilience and perseverance. Love exits my hands as I prepare foods, do my hair, and even when I type my papers. My hands mold the paths to my future. I am grateful that I understand the works of these hands and how they are important to the dimensions of love and understanding. The wrinkles that my hands share are ones that make a difference in lives.

Lips

Touch them

we said “no” to gravity

like the breath you can’t hold back

in

out

hold your distance

they feel yours

near mine

the anxiety when you know they are staring

I know you want me to breathe

like the colour of the sunsets in Sierra Leone

Pink, seems like my favorite letter

M, the plethora of creases

Reaching,

just breathe.

I believe that lips are a very intimate part of the body. We use our lips to express ourselves in many ways. I used to be afraid to meet the lips of yours but now they are home. Home for us. They are the meeting and greeting of every event, location and destination. Kiss me for a while. The cold winter air makes me nostalgic for those moments we share face to face. Your breath on my cheeks is the feeling that I will never take for granted. It is those small things that make me passionate for vivid imageries of you. Those beautiful pink sunsets are the moments I live for. It gives me a moment to remain optimistic of the future.

Legs

Caress them,

across from me

Wanting.

Seeming.

Wrapped,

within the thoughts,

that consumed me

trial and error.

Endlessly,

running,

wild,

wide open

they have found you,

inside the darkness

hiding from innocence.

Legs, they play an important role in intimacy and many other areas of passion. If you analyze them well you can see the stories that lie between them and the stories they tell. There may be stories of shame, denials, happiness, heartbreak, intimacy and so much more. But these legs have found you safe and secure. I am no longer worried about what the future awaits because I know it is you. You are the future. You are in control of the experiences you want to have. I believe in you because you are strong, open minded and you don’t judge me for the thoughts that I posses. So stay here with me for a while. When I say “a while” I really do mean it. You see, I don’t think you know what I mean when I tell you how I truly feel. I am not afraid because I know that one day I will reflect and know that it was all worth it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
