Having worked many years in the startup industry as well as starting a new job soon, I have met lots of people. None have really struck me as differently as Gregory Young. Mr. Young has been working in the real estate industry for over a decade, and has done everything from brokerage to MLS. With his main company, SpringView Realty, he has sold over $50 million worth of houses in 2015, and $45 mil in 2014. Now, he is creating a technology based startup known as MLS provider which aims at changing the way people buy and sell homes. Recently the site has changed over the past few months, and Young has been working on improving the user experience. His goal is to eventually create a way for clients to save thousands of dollars on commission by not hiring a professional firm to list their house using MLS.
What is MLS?
MLS stands for Multi Listing Service and can be used as a tool by real estate agents to search for property
What is the current problem you are tying to solve?
Currently listing agencies can charge a commission of thousands of dollars that can be avoided using the new system we are trying to set in place
What inspired you to be an entrepreneur?
I went to Oakland University decades ago as an MIS major and always have been interested in being in a business that helps people. Lots of people are being taken advantage of in the real estate market and we want to provide a better way and experience of doing things
Any major setbacks you are experiencing?
As always consumer discovery, keeping track of costs, and retention is a setback in every small business and while we are at an early stage, the sales have been growing and we recently had some major improvements.
