College is finally out at NDSU, which means summer is officially here for the next three months! I have now officially unpacked and settled in back at home. It's still a little weird to be back in my own queen-sized bed for once, I was getting used to those familiar hard twin beds and the over-cooked chicken at the West. It's great to be home. So here is a list of things I love to do in the summer. A great summer bucket list starter, if you ask me! Comment what you love to in the summer. Enjoy!

10. Riving tubing

Is there a clear sunny day in the forecast? Grab your tube and head to the nearest river to spend a day in the sun with all your friends!

9. Go on a picnic

Sometimes a good old fashioned picnic in the park or field will give all your long-distance friends some good TLC after school has ended.

8. Drive-in movie

Need a break from the sun? Head down the road to Long Prairie, Minnesota, to one of my favorite places ever, the drive-in! Don't forget to try the taco in a bag!

7. Enjoy the Lake

You don't have to live on the lake to enjoy what it has to offer. From boating on the pontoon to fishing off the shores of the reeds, the lake is the perfect getaway for a day.

6. Bonfire

An easy night around the campfire with sticky fingers from those s'mores you made just a few minutes ago is great way to end the night.

5. North Shore drives

This may be a long shot, but if you and some friends or family are looking for a great getaway, the North Shore has many things from great local places to eat to beautiful waterfalls.

4. Star gazing

For those clear, warm nights on the countryside, take a moment to turn off your cellphone and simply look up to enjoy what we have before us. You never know, you may even get to make a wish!

3. Night swimming

My lovely roommate is the one who gave me the idea. What a fun thing to do, once the water warms up of course! Grab some glow sticks for a little extra fun.

2. BBQ cookouts

BBQ cookouts are perfect for people who love to socialize over the grill. Get some backyard games like giant and an appetite!

1. The county fair

Last, but not least, the county fair. A great way to end the summer is going to your local county fair and getting your favorite food from your favorite booth. Maybe even take a chance to hop on over to your state fair!

Whatever it may be that you do over the summer, no matter what it is, just take a moment to enjoy getting these precious moments that we get off from school. Happy summer!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
