It's that time of year again: cold season. That's right, everywhere you look, people are coughing, sneezing, and blowing their noses. No matter how vigilant you are with that hand sanitizer, you can't avoid it forever. Soon enough, you'll catch a cold. As awful as it is, we can all relate. Here are the 14 stages of being sick.
1. You start to feel a tickle in the back of your throat
You avoid thinking about it, hoping it will go away.
2. You notice the occasional cough or sneeze
But it's not a big deal.
3. Your head starts to ache
Uh oh...
4. Suddenly, you wake up one morning feeling awful
You're sweaty, you can't breathe out of your nose, and your throat is all scratchy.
5. You tough it out and try to go to class or work
You can do this.
6. But you end up having to leave the room every five minutes to blow your nose
This is the worst.
7. You go to the store and stock up on chicken soup, OJ, tea, honey, and cold meds
Not that you can taste any of it.
8. You write an email to your teachers, describing your symptoms in too much detail in the hopes that they'll believe you
This time it's actually the truth!
9. You stay home and try to get as much sleep as possible
It's days like these where you just need your mom.
10. But really you just watch an excessive amount of Netflix
How often do you get the chance to get caught up on all of your shows?
11. It gets worse before it gets better
Pleghm and snot and mucous, oh my!
12. But finally you sense your symptoms starting to improve
I can smell again!
13. Now it's time to catch up on all the work you missed
Because (unfortunately) life doesn't stop when you're sick.
14. You stay up all night and start to feel a tickle in the back of your throat again...
And the cycle continues.
Stay healthy, everyone!
