Finals week snuck up on us and the true panic is starting as we slowly realize how doomed we all are this week. It is okay though, the characters of the TV show Shameless understand the different seven stages of finals week, too.
1. Relaxation
There’s still so much time before finals, why start worrying about it now? You have at least another week or two before you have to start studying, so sit back, relax, and enjoy your life before the stress of finals truly sets in.
2. Realization
There’s no actual way that finals start this week, right? It feels like just yesterday we were getting our syllabuses and the end of the semester felt ages away. What did we even learn in this class? How much of our final grade does this count for again?
3. Denial
"There’s still time" we keep trying to convince ourselves. Deep down inside you know that’s not true but until it becomes a problem, you’re not going to stress about it. Is it really the end of the semester if you haven’t’ procrastinated every assignment?
4. Stress
Okay, it is time to buckle down and figure out how you are going to pass your finals. The more you look through the study guides, the higher your stress levels get because you only know about half the concepts on the paper. You have so much stress-enduced adrenaline you won't even notice you're pulling an all-nighter until the sun comes up.
5. Exhaustion
While the all-nighter wasn't that bad while it was happening, you're definitely feeling it now. You can barely keep your eyes open as your mind is flooded with a billion different facts you've crammed into your brain in the past twenty-four hours.
6. Acceptance
You gave it your best and that's really all anyone can ask from you. There is nothing that you can do about it now so just bubble in the sheet and get ready to repeat steps four through six for the rest of your finals.
7. Relief
You are finally done. You finished your finals and you successfully completed the semester. Now is your time to go home and relax in the time that you have before the next semester begins.
