Ever since Kingdom Hearts fans were able to play "Kingdom Hearts 2" back in 2005 they have eagerly been anticipating the day the "Kingdom Hearts 3" hit store shelves. While Square Enix tried to manage the growing anticipation of the fans by releasing a handful of handheld and mobile Kingdom Hearts games, fans still craved a full console Kingdom Hearts game. In 2013, Square Enix finally revealed that the game studio was, in fact, working on Kingdome Hearts 3 during their E3 press conference and fans were ecstatic. Unfortunately, Square Enix failed to have a release date set in stone in 2013 and remained fairly silent after E3, giving small hints at possible release timeframes every now and then. Fast Forward to May 2017 and Square Enix may have hinted that they have finally made an official deadline for the game to be complete.
Kingdom Hearts is one of Square Enix’s most successful gaming franchises, which says a lot as Square Enix has been known to release some of the most popular gaming franchises in the history of the video game industry. The game combines the use of the game style and character base of a lot of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy franchise with the use of the stories and Character base of some of the most popular Disney Movies/Cartoons. The initial Kingdom Hearts game was released in 2002 and was an instant success for Square Enix.
Luckily for Fans, Square Enix has Officially stated that they intend to release Kindom Hearts 3 within the next 3 years, which is huge to Kingdom Hearts fans as Square Enix has been quiet for the most part when it comes to "Kingdom Hearts 3" news. While a 3-year timeframe may seem like bad news initially, this is actually good news when you consider Kingdom Hearts fans have gone over 12 years without any news regarding a "Kingdom Hearts 3" release date.
Due to the fact that there has been such a large gap between "Kingdom Hearts 2" and "Kingdom Hearts 3"’s current state of being, many Kingdom Hearts Fanatics are beginning to worry that "Kingdom Hearts 3" won't be polished and ready until the next generation of gaming consoles. However, Fans also need to keep in mind that Square Enix released remastered versions of every Kingdom Hearts Game up to this point on the Playstation 4 because they wanted to have every Kingdom Hearts Game focusing on the games main antagonist, Xehanort, available on one console. This is due to the fact that the next Kingdom Hearts game after "Kingdom Hearts 3" will steer away from the current Kingdom Hearts storyline that fans have crazed over for 15 years.
While Kingdom Hearts fans have yet to receive an official "Kingdom Hearts 3" release date, they should be able to find some hope in the gap between "Kingdom Hearts 2" and "Kingdom Hearts 3," as this must mean that Square Enix is taking their time to make sure every little detail is perfect.
