Spring Break: Home Edition

March has arrived, and we all know what that means. Yes, March Madness is starting (GO UCONN), but it’s officially spring break season. It’s the middle of second semester, midterms are over, and the hot white sands of tropical beaches are calling our names. Scratch that! The one and only is calling my name, and this is my bed. I couldn't be any more excited than I am now.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to stay home and do absolutely nothing. Although I’ll be busy, I’ll be able to relax when I want and have a refrigerator full of food at the cost of no points or swipes. I’m not worried about having FOMO because I still have spring breaks ahead of me, and there is nothing wrong with taking a week off and just focusing on myself. I’m considering treating myself this whole week, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Whether it's in Mexico or in your hometown, you should treat yourself as well, because chances are you deserve too!

When your parents are at work and your siblings are at school, you can wake up at eleven o’clock in the morning to peace and quiet and start your day how you want. You don’t have to rush anywhere unless you’re mom schedules a lifetime of appointments in one week. No Mom, I am not going to the dentist, orthodontist, etc. Instead of sitting around and doing nothing, although it’s relaxing, maybe you want to take this time to get yourself organized for the home stretch of the semester. Summer is right around the corner! Are you ready?

Things I would like to accomplish: Go to the gym with my bff for much needed motivation, catch up on my sleep, hop on a health kick and make healthy food, catch up with my family, go on hikes with my dog, and not spend a absurd amount of money.

Things I’ll actually accomplish: Go to the gym with my bestie and probably leave a half hour in to get a chocolate peanut butter smoothie that equals my body weight and still believe it’s “healthy”, stay up all night watching reruns of Parks and Recreation or Grey's Anatomy, eat a salad with a side of absurd amounts of home made mac n cheese, roll around on the floor with my dog, and spend generous amounts of money on sushi, ice cream, and clothes.

I will actually spend a large amount of time catching up with my family. My grandparents tend to like good food, and my gramma is literally the best person to shop with, so how can I go wrong? We all might be biased about our grandparents being the cutest people ever, but seriously, just look at them. My sisters are also my best friends so they will join me in eating twenty pounds of sushi as we watch Jaclyn Hill.

I’m currently sitting in my back porch with my feet up, and the sun is beaming on my face. I don’t need my toes in the sand to be happy this break. I have my family, my best friends, and good food. I simply can’t complain.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
