The Week After Spring Break According To Kim Possible

They may be cartoon characters, but they get it.

As a child, I loved the classic Disney Channel show Kim Possible. Looking back now, I realize that Kim, Ron, Shego and the rest of the characters really have a lot in common with us college students--they're sassy, they're real and they're so not about the drama. In fact, I can think of no characters more suited than these for breaking down the chaos of a college kid's return from Spring Break. Boo-yah!

1. Reading your syllabus

Spring Break has a way of making you forget all of your assignments and deadlines, until you look at your syllabus again and realize that you actually have a mountain of work to do before next Friday. As Shego would say: “Woo-hoo. Extra hoo.”

2. Getting up for your 8 a.m. on Monday morning

Waking up for your first class of the week is never fun, but coming on the heels of Daylight Savings Time and a week full of no classes, it’s absolute torture.

3. Catching up with friends

Let’s be honest, no matter how much fun you had over break, it’s always great to reunite with your peeps on campus. You have so many great stories and moments to catch up on together!

4. Telling people about your break

“I was enjoying paradise last week, what were you doing?”

5. Showing off your tan

After a long, cold winter, it’s great to spend the week of Spring Break basking in the sun. It’s also great to bring that killer tan back to campus with you and flaunt it for all it’s worth. After all, you haven’t looked this good since last September!

6. Returning to a college diet

Say goodbye to home-cooked meals and fancy dinners paid for by your parents. It’s back to cafeteria food and your random assortment of unhealthy late-night snacks. You can feel your arteries clogging a little more with each bite. Yum!

7. Staying up late to finish a last-minute paper

Sure, you could have written that ten-page paper last week, but what kind of person is actually productive during Spring Break? Instead, you stay up ‘til three or four in the morning in a crazed, exhausted rush to finish it before class tomorrow. Thank goodness for coffee!

8. Missing nap time

Ah, naps. Those wonderful sessions of restfulness were part of your daily schedule during Spring Break, but now they’re no more than a fond memory. College life is consuming your schedule and barely leaving you enough time to sleep at night, much less during the day. You might as well say goodbye to feeling well-rested until after finals week in May.

9. Trying to hide your post-break stress from the rest of the world

By the time the end of post Spring Break week draws near, you’re feeling more than a little overwhelmed and exhausted. Forget about trying to convince yourself that you have everything under control—you’re just worried about not having a mental or emotional breakdown in the middle of a public place between now and the nearest weekend. Just hold on a little longer, you’re almost there!

You can do it!

10. Realizing all over again how much you love your school

No matter how great your break was or how stressful it is to return to the hectic college world of friends, work, classes, and assignments, you never truly lose sight of what drew you to this school in the first place. You love your friends, your major, your activities, and all of the awesome things you’re learning every day (both in and out of the classroom). College is an irreplaceable experience, and you’re so thankful to be a part of it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
