The Spring Semester Bucket List

May the odds be ever in our favor...

The spring semester is upon us (much to majority of college kids' dismay), and it's time to start thinking about what we're going to do this semester again. Last semester, we may not have been the best. We slacked off, stayed up too late, didn't pay enough attention, we just weren't the best students we could have been. But we made it, we survived; so this semester, it's time to be better students... or at least, we can make a bucketlist and pretend and probably later ignore this bucket list.

1. No skipping class. I know my bed is basically begging me to stay but I HAVE to get up and go to class. Missing class in college is nothing like missing class in high school.

2. Get all A's. HAHAHAHAHAHA YEAH RIGHT, but we can dream.

3. Actually do the readings. We all know when the professors only homework assignment is to read chapter 2, that basically means no homework. But this semester, I'll actually try to read.

4. Ask the professor for help if I don't understand something. Another thing we all hate. We hate to look like the stupid kid for asking something in class... but I mean, maybe I can email the professor after class and ask?

5. Let me professor know ahead of time if I won't be in class. Whether I'm sick, stuck in traffic, out of town, I should treat my professor as if they were my boss and let them know where I am and see if I can make up anything online.

6. If the deadline is 11:59 pm, take the online quiz BEFORE 11 pm. Guilty as charged.

7. Make more friends. Can you ever have too many?

8. Hang out with an old friend from freshman year I haven't talked to in a while. Remember that girl you used to sit next to in English 101? Hit her up, see how she's doing.

9. Actually go and see my academic advisor and talk to them about my options for the future.

10. Stop eating out so much. We're way past the freshman 15 now. This has got to stop. My stomach and my bank account definitely are not happy with me.

11. Learn some stuff I like to do for a little self-love when I'm feeling overwhelmed. Maybe get some bath bombs or some bath salt that smell nice and take a bubble bath when schoolwork stresses you out.

12. Smile more. I walk around campus like a dead zombie majority of the time, no one wants to befriend the dead zombie... smile more.

13. Actually get to know the random people I sit beside in classes.

14. Start researching and looking into future internships or jobs in my field.

15. STUDY. HAHAHAHAHA WE'LL SEE.Start researching and looking into future internships or jobs in my field.

16. Stop worrying so much. Worrying only causes me to get more stressed, stress causes me to do worse in classes. So worrying isn't doing me any favors.

Good luck this semester, friends. May the odds be ever in our favor.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
