Social media is a blessing and a curse. It’s a handy tool to be able to reach out to family and friends, but it can also be dangerous in regards to cyber bullying and things of that nature. Personally, I’m an avid user of social media. All of my friends can confirm that statement, and all of you can just scroll through my Instagram, Twitter or Facebook.
I’m going to admit I am guilty of being a little bit of an over thinker when I post on social media, especially Instagram. For example, if I want to post a selfie, I look back at the last time I posted one to make sure that they’re not too close together. I was doing this for a while. I would have to stop and think of how many tweets I was posting in a row, how many articles I was sharing on Facebook in one day, or how many back to back Instagram pictures I was posting. Was it too much? Were my followers getting annoyed with me?
All of a sudden it got to the point where I was fed up with being so worried. I mean, for crying out loud, it’s only social media. No one actually sits up at night and thinks about how many pictures I posted in a day. And, if you do, you’ve got way too much time on your hands.
So, I just have one thing to say: Who cares what you do on your social media. I don’t mean “who cares” in an aggravated sense. I mean “who cares” because it’s all your own. You created that platform for yourself and for things you enjoy. Half of the followers people have are because of something they have previously posted. It grabs common interest. Let’s be real for a second -- I post a lot of pictures with myself in them. Isn’t that the point? Some are of food or random signs/scenery. But let’s also remember, it’s my food and my picture of scenery. Just like it’s your selfie, or your (whatever you enjoy posting on social media).https://www.pexels.com/photo/hands-coffee-smartpho...
I think it’s a beautiful thing to have enough confidence to put yourself out there online. I wish more people would be accepting and willing to be as free as they want, in a safe manner, on social media. I want you to keep posting your pictures, tweeting your tweets, and sharing your favorite memes. I like seeing what people are interested in, and it’s an easy way to form a good friendship. Disclaimer: Please be wary about Internet friendships, not all of them are legit. It provides a good source of inspiration too. I’m constantly scrolling through looking for different ideas in regards to style, home décor, party themes and everything in between. Plus, social media doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere anytime soon. I will continue to like, post, share, favorite and do anything else social media throws our way for as long as I can and I think you should, too.
