I've been lucky enough to attend a lot of concerts and travel to some beautiful cities. People often question why I spend so much money on these things. I love concerts. I get a major rush attending a show. There are a lot of things I enjoy about concerts. The atmosphere of the venue is always something I enjoy. It doesn't matter if it's a basement or stadium show, the crowd is always ready. A lot of artists I follow are playing at an arena or stadium level. It doesn't matter how many times I've seen this artist or band, I get butterflies just waiting for them to go on stage. When those lights go out you know that the night is just starting. There have been plenty of times I should've saved money for a phone bill or for gas but instead- I spent it on a memory.
Music is great. I think everyone can agree on that. No matter what genre you listen to, you can take something away from it. A lot of musicians write to share a message. When you go to these concerts and watch them perform it means more. You get to watch them show off what they put their hard work and energy into. There are artists out there who pour their heart and soul into their tours. They make it a full production. They give the fans a visual representation of what the album means to them. It's reward for the artist and the fans.
There's something beautiful about being in a sea of people who love the same artist you do. There's one thing that brought you all together in that venue, and that's the singer. I find it so overwhelming, almost tear jeaking listening to tens of thousands of people sing along. The fans in the venue create one voice that's singing with the singer. A lot of times singers will stop the show to look at the crowd. The way they look at the crowd with tears in their eyes gets me every.single.time. Looking around and seeing all these people enjoy themselves adds to the art of the show.
A lot of these bigger artists have fan bases that create fan projects for the tour. I've gone to shows where people hold up orange hearts during songs. I've seen Gillette Stadium light up with the colors of the rainbow. It takes a lot of time and effort to get these going. Cutting out signs, reaching the masses, writing out messages and transporting the materials is a lot of work. Fans do it out of the kindness of their heart. Each time I see a project at a show I go to, I'm blown away.
These concerts are a safe place for a lot of people.Being surrounded by tens of thousands of people who share the same love for the artist is comforting. There have been times girls scream the lyrics out and have tears running down their faces. It's overwhelming. The love these fans have for their favorite musicians is a bond that can't ever be broken. A lot of fans save up money for months on end because they know someone they love is going on on the road.
I remember seeing One Direction last summer on the On The Road Again Tour. Harry Styles let it be known that they love their fans. Styles would see a fan in the crowd with a rainbow flag and take it on stage. From there, Harry would run up and down the catwalk, waving that flag high. That was reassuring. The 22-year-old, would reiterate that no matter who you love, they love you. Countless fans felt security from his words.
It comes back to the artist on stage. They're the reason I continue to go to concerts. An artist who gives it their all and expresses their gratitude makes the show a better experience. Out of all the concerts I've gone to, the singer always lets it be known how grateful they are. I can't stand going to concerts where it looks like the singer is bothered to be there. I won't name names but I'm sure we can all think of an artist or two who looks bored when they perform. To the artists who continue to out do themselves, thank you
