30 Things Every Sorority Girl Has Said To Herself Before Going To Formal

We can all relate to having these thoughts, if you are in a sorority.

Being in a sorority can be stressful. The one event every girl looks forward to is formal. Honestly, formal ends up being one of the most stressful/fun parts of sorority life. There is so much build-up to one night that is is easy to feel pressure to have it be perfect. Ultimately though, it always is a super fun night where you get dressed up and spend time with your friends.

1. Formal is so far away.

2. Wait... when is formal?

3. Okay. Maybe it's not as far away as I thought.

4. Should I start looking for a dress?

5. OMG! Who am I going to take?

6. I wonder what the formal shirts look like.

7. Where even is formal?

8. I should definitely look for a dress, but what color?

9. I wore black last year, so that’s obviously out.

10. AND no one else can have the same dress as me. #embarrassing

11. Okay the date document came out.

12. IT IS OFFICIALLY TIME TO PANIC.

13. If I don’t bring a date who am I going to sit with on the bus?

14. More importantly, what type of food will there be?

15. Formal is going to be here way too soon.

16. Should I get a spray tan?

17. The date document closes tomorrow. Should I make a fake date?

18. I should definitely get a spray tan.

19. I’m definitely going to go alone because it will be way more fun.

20. Oh my god. I completely forgot about how I’m going to do my hair.

21. I need to make a hair appointment ASAP.

22. I need to check the song request list. What if someone hasn’t put “Kiss Me Thru the Phone” on there yet?

23. Where am I going to get ready?

24. Who am I going to get ready with?

25. WAIT what time should we start getting ready.

26. I need to get such cute, Insta worthy pictures.

27. I NEED THE BEST CAPTION.

28. Really though. Any caption ideas?

29. Dude, it’s the day of formal!

30. This is going to be the best night ever with my ~sisters~

If You Wear XL T-Shirts And Shorts, You're The Woman Of My Dreams

Enough with the war on comfort!

Comfortable can be sexy, simply put.

For some reason there are people complaining out there about the Southern college trend that has been happening the past few years: big t-shirts and shorts, also known as the "srat uniform." There seems to be a clash between the girls who dress "nice" most of the time and girls who dress for comfort. As a guy, I don't see what the big deal is?

For college in the South, there are two reasons to dress up: college football (Roll Tide) and date parties. Any other time, you can find a majority of the female population in shorts and a big t-shirt that makes it look like they're not wearing pants. As a man, I personally don't see anything wrong with this. I love being comfortable as much as the next person, and most guys find the baggy t-shirt and shorts outfit to be cute. There's always a time and place for dresses and rompers.

But for all the haters out there that call these girls in XL t-shirts and shorts lazy, you've got it all wrong.

There are 4 reasons why the girls who don the "srat uniform" have it all figured out.

1. Girls have it rough.

See, it's tough being a girl. I don't know from experience, but I hear it enough and I've seen it enough to know it's true. When girls aren't dealing with f***boys, periods or having to do their hair and makeup routinely, they are being overly criticized by our society. I think society owes girls a break, and that break comes in the comfortable baggy t-shirt and shorts.

2. Southern Not-So-Comfort(able) weather.

Also, for all of the haters, maybe y'all haven't noticed that it's hotter than Satan's balls in the South! Tight, dressy outfits and pants constrict the body and cause you to sweat. I'd rather see a dry girl in a baggy t-shirt than a girl drenched in sweat trying to look cute with her outfit.

3. Perfect doesn't exist.

It's admirable when a girl can unapologetically be herself. A girl in an XL t-shirt and shorts is a girl that is saying "yes, I may have just rolled out of bed and brushed my hair, but I'm here dammit." Social media tells us we all have to be the dolled up, most "perfect" version of ourselves all the time, so it's nice to experience that reality check.

4. Guys think it's cute, regardless.

Nine times out of 10, guys in college do not care what you're wearing. Trust me, we aren't doing much better. You could probably put on a garbage bag and we still think you're cute. Any guy that dates a girl that dates a girl only because she dresses nicely all of the time is a shallow man. You're cute, you're comfortable, and that makes for a much better vibe. We all win.

So, in the battle of dressing "nice" and dressing comfortable, I think that the girls who wear an XL t-shirt and shorts chalk up a win in my record book. No, I'm not bashing on girls who have a true sense of style and wear nice clothing... that's a great thing in itself! But, this is college and there are more important things to focus on besides what we're wearing.

Ladies, wear your srat uniform with pride. Some us think it's cute :)

Dear Sorority Girls On The Concourse, Please Stop

Get some ice cream, let the voting happen as it will, and take a chill pill.

My RBF as I pass by has nothing to do with whether I like you, whether I like the ideas of sororities or whether or not I'm late to class. Okay, it might have a little bit to do with the latter.

My earbuds are very much turned up as loud as they can go for one simple fact: I do not have time.

I understand you want to support your little organizations or promote your sisters for different spots such as Miss Auburn. However, I do not want to hear it in all my class GroupMes. I do not want you to get in my face on the concourse when it is obvious I do not care. I do not want to be bombarded with the same questions over and over. I do not want to have to avoid the quickest way to the class that I'm about to be late to because you took up the entire concourse.

The fact of the matter is that if I were going to vote, I would have already. Trust me, I see the Instagram posts, I see the signs all over campus. I see the T-shirts. I see the free stuff you're giving out and get that it's to get my attention but to tell you the truth, I'm more likely to take the stuff and never give the voting a second thought. You presented the opportunity.

Please don't take this the wrong way. I do not intend to be rude or bash on how you go about getting the attention you need. But please, find some other way to do it because you are standing between me and my history class and if you touch me I will get an attitude real quick.

Now, even though this post is directed to the girls, guys do it too when it comes to their friend running for student government. I get that you guys are excited but please no more spamming my phone with six messages in a row about the same thing that I still, personally, do not care about. Please and thank you.

Get some ice cream, let the voting happen as it will, and take a chill pill.

In conclusion, I may not understand fully why you do it. I apologize for the daggers I shoot at you when you come near me like you're gonna get my attention even if it means pulling out my earbuds. But please. Stop.
