Let's face it, at some point someone out there is going to break your heart. It sucks, but it happens. What am I here to do today is make that heartbreak feel a little better. I, personally have a Spotify playlist of sad/sappy/love songs which runs for 7 hours and 51 min. Today, I am here to provide you with the best songs to get through each stage of heartbreak.
1. STAGE ONE: The Crying Stage
This is the stage with all the tears
"I'm A Mess" by Ed Sheeran
Right now, you're a mess, most likely. Tears are everywhere, food wrappers are everywhere, and you may or may not have showered recently. It's fine for now, because if sweet baby angel Ed Sheeran can be a mess inside out, so can you.
"Tonight I Wanna Cry" by Keith Urban
Tonight, you're gonna wanna cry, so please do. Cry all the tears, but later you'll realize that no one is worth that.
"Amnesia" by 5 Seconds of Summer
*Sings* "I wish that I could wake up with amnesia so I could forget about the stupid little things like they way you're a total jerk." Lyric changes are always fun.
2. STAGE TWO: The Angry Stage
This is the stage where you throw serious shade and like yell a lot
"Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood
So you may not actually take a Louisville Slugger to both headlights, but it feels good to sing about it. So pretend to key that car and slash those tires. It's good for you.
"So What?" by P!nk
You're a rockstar and you don't need anyone and you're gonna start all the fights. This is great to jam to, because you know you'll be having more fun. Plus-- we're all gonna get in a fight.
"Wasting All These Tears" by Cassadee Pope
You wasted all the tears, but now you realize they weren't worth it and so now you're finally through. The heartbreaker can go ahead and stick that in their juice box and suck it.
"Dear John" by Taylor Swift
The ultimate shade song. Dear jerk don't you think I was too great to be played by your dark f*** boy games. You're gonna leave him in the dark after shining like a firework over his sad, empty, life.
3. STAGE THREE: Denial
They've texted you and now you question everything and you want them back
"I'm Comin' Over" by Chris Young
To hell with the close save it for another time... right? Wrong. Don't go over, don't let them come over. You're getting your closure, let it stay closed.
"Say Something" by A Great Big World/Christina Aguilera
You're waiting for them to say something else, you'd still do anything they'd ask. You just know they're going to come back to you, but it's time to give up on them.
"Best I Ever Had" by Gary Allen
You're thinking that they're the best you've ever had. Newsflash: they most likely aren't. You're the best thing they ever had and they gave it up.
4. STAGE FOUR: Moving On
You're finally done and you are finally free
"I'm Movin' On" by Rascal Flatts
The title says it all, you're movin' on. Don't let life pass you by because someone hurt you, I promise they aren't worth missing out on great things for.
"I'm Already Gone" by A Day To Remember
You're already gone, you may not belong to anyone or anything, but you certainly don't belong to the person who broke your heart. It's their loss.
"You'll Think Of Me" by Keith Urban
In the end, you'll move and you'll be fine, but you just might cross their mind more often than you think. After all, you are pretty amazing and they missed out on a great person.
"White Horse" by Taylor Swift
I'm gonna find someone someday who might actually treat me well. That's it; that's all I have to say. You will find someone who will treat you well, I promise.
So there it is, my small cure for a big problem. Heartbreak sucks and the people who break your heart suck, but you can do this. Listen to music, cry, eat ice cream, start fights, throw shade, but in the end always just move on.
