Sometimes, love is cruel.
This is a lesson that all will learn, hearts will break, tears will fall, and worlds will fall apart.
Sometimes it feels like the pain will never end. As if your depressed state consumes you into a state of oblivion.
Sometimes, love is cruel. And always, when it is, we feel alone. We separate ourselves. We weep and sulk, we recover and find our independence, and we rebuild our lives. And we go on. This is a price we pay as humans.
Sometimes, love is cruel, and you have no choice but to accept that this is a part of life. And when it's your turn to deal with it, you will.
But what if you're always the one with the broken heart?
Surely some 16, heartbroken young girl can be forgiven for thinking it's always her turn being heartbroken, days after the one she thought she loved left her in the pouring rain for another girl. Surely, the rest of us think we understand the hurt and heartbreak others are experiencing but you never fully can.
Bad enough, your heart is already a fool. Bad enough it has a history of making you fall for all the wrong people. Bad enough, all of that at the end of the day, is dramatically enhanced by our minds, by human greed, human lust, and human dependence.
Sometimes, though, you have to wonder if the heart itself is quarreling against the mind.
But what else are you going to do? You can't always control the emotions you feel. But we do have the ability to change how much we allow our emotions control us.
We are controlled by emotions because they tend to tell us that we deserve to be hurt, and that we don't deserve to be happy.
Learn from it. Weep and sulk. Recover and find your independence. Rebuild your life. Move on. And show your heart that despite it's stubbornness, love doesn't have to be cruel.
