Somehow, We're Still Alive

I'll give Donald Trump credit; it's been a week and we aren't dead.

Somehow, We're Still Alive
GMX

Well, it’s been a week of President Trump, and positively, we’re still here. We’re still alive. The world may completely dislike us, but we’re still here. And soon we may go back into isolation, which we tried to do in the 1920’s and 30’s. No longer will globalization be honored, but rather we’re Americans and we do whatever the hell we want.

It pains me to to do this, but thank you, President Trump, because we’re still alive after the first week. I don’t know how long we’ll last but you did for a week. There’s something to be proud of.

Though, I do have a few questions and comments about the first week. I understand the day one actions and I understand there is a 100 Day plan. I understand there is a 200-day plan. I assume there has to be a one year plan, I just have not heard anything about it. President Trump has an eight-year plan, but I would like to remind him, a president is only elected for four years. Don’t get too cocky.

On President Trump’s first day and in his first week, he has already signed at least 14 executive actions. These executive actions include and are not limited to: Affordable Care Act rollback, federal money cannot go to organizations that provide abortions, the Trans-Pacific Partnership is no longer, a large wall between the U.S and Mexico, and now the Dakota Access Pipeline will go in.

So I guess with two of these, I might not be able to afford an abortion. But I don’t have health care. So then, in this system, I would either carry the child for nine months or have a coathanger abortion. Is this how it works? But I don’t have health care like I said, so then I wouldn’t be able to give the growing fetus within prenatal vitamins to make it healthier and stronger and more likely to survive. But if I had a coathanger abortion, there is a chance I could die. So I would end up in the hospital but I don’t have health care and I can’t pay the bills, so it’s back to the taxpayer and federal government.

Now, I’m not saying I’m pregnant because I don’t think God immaculate concept me. I’m not a willing participant.

Then a large wall will be built between the U.S. and its neighbor. I’m assuming Canada is going to the build the wall between the U.S. and its borders because I don’t know if they can handle any more refugees. Oh, wait, Canada has welcomed 39, 671 refugees as of January 2nd, 2017.

But it must be nice for President Trump to build walls because it is easier than building bridges. Plus, he does not allow scientists to science anymore, and scientists, there is no one to explain gravity to him. We should have seen this coming because President Trump has basically lived behind a wall his entire life of being handed a money with a small loan of one million dollars.

President Trump has signed executive orders, but I remember there being backlash when President Obama (you know, the dude that was president like two weeks ago) signed executive orders. I think people called him a communist and dictator for taking the power by himself. I also remember people arguing checks and balance. This must go through the House and Senate. Yet, President Trump is getting away with it. Where are our people screaming fascist?

Actually, I think actually they were marching all over the country and then all over the world on Saturday, 21st of January. And they haven’t stopped, have they? All around the world, in our sister cities of London, Berlin, Sydney, Cape Town and Nairobi, they were aggressively screaming no. In our own cities around the country, from big to small, we screamed aggressively no. But like any true rapist, no just means yes.

Though he has many executive actions, eventually it’ll all be in the past, like the election that Donald Trump won to make President Trump. Yes, it does still leave a terrible taste in my mouth and it just sounds wrong when it comes out. Trump’s team, mostly Kellyanne Conway, a feminist because of what she accomplished as a woman and not because she likes helping other women, has lead the charge for saying Donald Trump is President Trump, the election is in the past; leave it there. President Trump is not leaving it there, Ms. Conway.

President Trump will now look into voter fraud, which is an issue that has been widely disputed. Yet he will do it. And it’s all because of the popular vote. President Trump will not admit that Russians could be at fault, but he says his own Americans are at fault. There will proof among intelligence agencies that Russians were involved, when there isn’t much proof, if any, that Americans do much voter fraud.

Of course, this is all being brought up because President Trump wants to prove that he is popular among the people, even though he came into office with an approval rating of 40 percent. In his three days of office, it did get better, moving to 45 percent of Americans supported him. It is not great, though, because President Trump still lost by almost three million votes. That is three million people that do not like him, on top of the all the other votes. Secretary Clinton had the votes of 48.2 percent while President Trump had 46.1 percent. It does not seem like that much of a difference, especially when it is only three million people different in the U.S.

However, there is 5.7 percent of the popular vote that went other candidates, which is almost eight million people.

I understand why President Trump wants to be liked, but, honey, if you think about the election by popular vote, Clinton would be President of the United States of America, and we just know you as the crazy dude that tried to take over the world.

So thank you, Donald Trump, for keeping us alive for a week. You still have three years, 11 months, and God knows how many days. We’re counting the days down, or we’re counting our lives down. Either way, everyone grab your signs, your Facebook and Twitter; it’s about to go down.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
