Some Things To Ponder As Another Week Begins

Don't let another week get away from you.

Life is stressful, there is no easy way around it. Whether it’s school, your job, mental/physical health, or politics, something is always hurting. Because of this, the start of a fresh week can feel less like a new beginning and more like a race to finish in your best time.

As cheesy as it is, life should not be about waiting until it’s done, but embracing every moment you experience. Both the good and the bad.

No matter the stress in your life, no matter the questions you cannot seem to answer, no matter the obstacles the world has thrown in your way, take a few minutes to re-empower yourself. Don’t become someone who complains about the ending of every weekend, or the start of every week.

Yes, we are tired and overwhelmed; but we are strong and capable, and our fullest potential begins when we feel our lowest.

Embrace the start of a new week with a deep breath and a few reminders to keep your body and mind in check.

Someone Will Always Listen

You are not alone, ever. Even the most unlikely person can be a sturdy shoulder. Sometimes, all you have to do is ask.

Do What You Need To Do To Feel Better

Sometimes we get so caught up in our agendas that we neglect our most valuable asset: our self. Get the therapy you need, whether it be a trip to a physician, a cuddle with a puppy, or a 4-mile hike. Taking care of yourself is never wasted time.

Embrace Yourself

Don’t follow the crowd because “it’s easier.” Go play a little soccer in the park, wear blue lipstick to the grocery store, however you want to roll. Your life is yours, so be a little weird.

Your Voice Does Actually Mean Something

Domino effect is real; making shit happen starts with one person. You are a real, valid person with a voice that can reach the ends of the world. Don’t be afraid to let people hear it.

Your Gut Is Usually Right

Every creature has a natural feeling when something is bad, but humans are especially guilty of second-guessing ourselves. Listen to what your body and heart tell you; if it feels wrong, it probably is.

Nothing is Impossible, Really

Every so often, we get handed the epitome of a hopeless cause. 99.9 percent of the time, all those tasks require is a strong cup of coffee, a clean desk, and a plan. You got this, dude.

Take care of yourself, be proud to be who you are, remember that you are only human.

You are capable of so much in seven days. If no one else tells you, I believe in you.

Have a beautiful week.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
