So as everyone knows we have an election and I would like to weigh in with my opinion on the presidential candidates, mindset of the American people, and if I’m lucky get you to examine your own thoughts. So in one corner we have Hillary Clinton and in the other we have Donald Trump, I didn’t vote for either one in the primary and would vote for almost any other candidate from previous year’s candidate’s choices if I could. First up is Hillary Clinton, the 67th secretary of state, former first lady of the United States, and carries a doctorate in law. This shows she has all the right background for someone to be president, her experience and education speak for themselves. Donald Trump, is an American business man who got an economics bachelors at Wharton, and later took over his father’s real estate and construction firm. Trump’s education and experience is far less suited for politics, he actualy has a complete lack of political experience which some argue is his strongest asset. So how is a lack of experience and education a good thing? People argue that since he hasn’t been involved in politics he isn’t “bought” by big corporations and he can shake things up. I think most people would agree our political system is heavily influenced by a few people or groups that have vast amounts of wealth and political connections both foreign and local. Now Trump has been in big debt and bailed out by bigger people, I think it would be idiotic to assume he doesn’t owe important people huge favors. Since we are talking about finances let’s shift our focus onto who has the most money and how they have allocated it. Hillary Clinton has an estimated net worth of $31.3 million, while Donald Trump is estimated at a staggering $3.7 billion, that means his net worth is over 118 times that of Hillary. If there was ever a presidential candidate that would be difficult to buy it would be him, even the richest companies would have a hard time throwing around enough money to persuade someone who is worth so much. I hear a lot of people talking about how Trump is such a great business man and he will bring America in the same direction as his businesses. People also have this idea that he will help out the poor working class and make everyone wealthy. First off HE DOES NOT CARE YOU ARE POOR, he is running for president, he could care less if you are working 50 hours a week to make ends meet. For an upper class there has to be a lower class to do all the grunt labor. To get to the top tier of financial wealth you need to either have an extremely strong economy which America doesn’t have right now, or a great number of extremely poor people to support the wealthy people. That is what the 1% is, they are people who pay people one thousandth what they make so they can spend it on pointless things, while the lower class has to live pay check to pay check. Another point I would like to add is Trump isn’t a good business man, he has filed for bankruptcy multiple times, and most businesses that he has started ended up being failures. It is so bad that if Trump had invested his net worth in the S&P 500 he would have an estimated net worth of $8.6 billion, that means his companies under profile the average S&P 500 companies by over 50%. I know this is starting to look like a Trump bashing but our next topic Trump wins hands down, well he sort of does. Let’s talk about the charisma of the two candidates and how it effects their campaign. First up we have Clinton, she talks, walks, acts like a politician, from her neutral tone to her scripted dialogue. I understand she sticks to a scripted dialogue because Trump might never be able to define policy but get into a shouting match with him and he is a Mike Tyson in the ring. I just really wish she would come out and show a bit of passion, emotion, or even a little spontaneity. She just sits their spitting obviously rehearsed lines that reinforce the idea she is bought out and just a puppet figure. If she had literally half the charisma as Trump she would be leading by a landslide. Clinton also has a huge problem pandering, I get it you are running for president and want people to like you but be a little subtle. I wouldn’t go up to a bunch of red necks and start talking about how great Natural Ice is, it just puts people on the defensive of why this person is so blatantly seeking approval once again making you sound disingenuous. Trump on the other hand is a natural showman, he can talk for days, say nothing and people will still want to vote for him. Honestly this is probably could be his only way to win the election except he has zero ability to use it effectively. Instead of knowing about his policy and debating normally, which he would win with the right knowledge, he instead uses his talent to insult people or skip around questions. I just wish I could stop hearing people say “He tells it like it is” this is not a good quality. If I went up to my boss and said you suck I could run this better, he wouldn’t step down and let me take his place, and I would be applying for another job. He tells things from his perspective usually in a way that only makes sense to him “All I can tell you it is a foolproof way of winning, and I’m not talking about what some people would say, but it is a foolproof way of winning the war with ISIS.” Could you imagine a doctor talking about cancer like that? Seriously re-read the sentence and exchange ISIS with cancer. I know it’s not the same thing but when someone claims they can do something extraordinary and gives you no evidence to believe them do you? It’s like in grade school when a kid claimed he could do something impossible but anytime he was asked to do it he never had time or wasn’t feeling well, I got a secret he couldn’t do it. So where do we stand? Which side of the fence should we be on? The answer is that it really doesn’t matter, at this point Trump has done such a bad job representing himself and Clinton has done a good enough job not pissing people off that her win is almost guaranteed. It’s a relatively somber conclusion but it is the one that has the most supporting evidence, it’s too late to find a better candidate. If I had to make a guess not much will change in America upon Clinton’s election, the division of upper and lower class will grow. We might have an upturn in our economy but that will be because it is good for everyone that that happens. The government will continue to be corrupt unless someone pushes too far, but I feel like the American people would have to get pushed pretty far for an actual class war to start.
