Waking up Wednesday morning and seeing snow was definitely a shock to all of us. I mean you live in South Carolina so why is there snow on the ground and ice on the trees? Sure, that's normal for North Carolina but Hilton Head? Growing up in Massachusetts the snow wasn't really a shock to me, but it was incredibly weird seeing as how a week before it was 65 degrees here.
A few hours later I let my dog outside to go to the bathroom, and mind you, she has never seen snow before. At first, she was a little hesitant and I don't think she really knew what to do—she wasn't having the cold. As she got used to it she started sprinting everywhere like a total spaz. She loved it, she was shoving her face into the ground. This was the first and possibly only time she would ever see snow.
Since the "storm" school has been closed for everyone for three days, and to think we only got two inches of snow. Could you imagine what it would be like if it was ten? My next door neighbors are eight and seven and they've both never seen snow, there wasn't even a dusting on the ground and they were already outside playing in it.
People in the south take snow completely different than people in the north do. In the north, it's just another storm to add to the list during the year, in the south, it's a once in a lifetime chance to see something new and cold.
I've been wishing for a snow day for about a year now and my roommates thought I was crazy, but, I finally got it and it was the best day to just sit around and do absolutely nothing.
