November 7th, 2017 - Everything seemed normal, nothing out of the ordinary presented itself and yet it set forth world-wide spread panic. Snapchat first launched in September 2011 - since then the world has taken it by storm.
Celebrities, food channels, magazines, and more take to the storyboards to share their days or even show cute animals. On November 6th... #SnapchatDown took over the Twitter-verse... I personally got to live in my little perfect bubble until the following day.
So as an avid Snapper - here are the 5 stages of this unfortunate event.
1. Denial
You don't realize what's happening. You're in the dark, complete denial as you begin to blame your phones inability to connect to Snapchat on your provider. To the point that you're going to call to see if there's some issue with the server or towers in the area
2. Anger
You restart your phone - making horribly angry noises in the fact that there's still a notification (possibly more than 1) on Snapchat and you can't get rid of it. Did I mention that the hourglass has now appeared and you cannot send a snap in order to keep it?
3. Bargaining
You start talking to Snapchat - trying to coerce it to do what you want. When that doesn't work - you go online to Snapchats support system and attempt to put in a ticket for support... but realize it's way too much effort to give them all of the information you need. So you take to Twitter to whine.
4. Depression
Suddenly you see #SnapchatDown as a tag... you sink into deep despair that it has been down for a long period of time. You are hurt - hurt that you didn't know sooner - that this was the last resort and finally an answer presented itself. You internally cry as you yourself post a #SnapChat down tweet regarding how lost and in the dark you have felt... #babycomeback
5. Acceptance
Accepting your life is over and Snapchat will lose all of your streaks. It will be the end of everything... Oh, wait! The magic has returned and life has been restored to its former glory. Praise the Snap Ghost Gods and fulfill your needs or your snap streaks (same thing)
It was a dark couple of days without you Snapchat. We will not take you in vain. We love you - don't leave us again.
