On October 11th I jumped out of a plane at 13,500 feet. Most people would say that’s insane. The most common question I received was, “why would you jump out of a perfectly good aircraft?” I would say it is for the fun. Skydiving is a very dangerous sport. You are falling to earth at an amazing rate of one hundred and twenty miles per hour. Soon the world that you barely could see or make out what was below starts to quickly become visible. Because this was my first jump I had a tandem skydiver with me who has had many jumps to be trained at skydiving. I recommend this experience to all my friends. It is a relaxing glide through the clouds. Everywhere I go I bring up how I went skydiving. I love to tell people about my adventurous side. I had the sensation of flying it was so cool. I had a bird's eye view of the Earth below me. At first, I thought it would be scary but it actually was relaxing for me.
The risks for skydiving though is real I had to sign a waiver saying that if I sustained an injury of any kind, that I or my family would never sue knowing the consequences. Also, the big one was death, I know the jump is safe with professional help. I know that I was in good hands. I didn't fear death at all, being on the edge of the plane door I saw it as more as a new adventure. As I stated before, I knew I was in good hands. So I was not as afraid as I think I would have been if I did not have trust in my tandem. The experience of jumping from a moving plane may sound terrifying but it isn't that scary it's more of an empowerment feel. I love feeling the wind in my hair as I rushed through the sky.
I had my whole experience captured with the video package because of course on a person's first jump you would want to remember it forever. Soon the Delaware river was getting closer and larger. The houses that i could barely make out where gaining their sizes again. Then just like that the parachute opened up and we slowly descended in New Jersey and I'm all ready to go again.
