As long as I could remember I’ve always craved adrenaline, almost at any kind of length. Growing older, I found that it’s been more difficult to take chances that are “out there”. I remember from second grade, I was resilient to heights and haunted houses. Always wanting the next higher and scarier thing. Graduating from high school was the beginning of my true need for adrenaline, as college is perfect for adrenaline junkies.
It’s hard to remember all the risks you took throughout your life because you’re always looking for the next best thing. I made a list from most memorable chances I took on life.
*Notice how they become more and more extravagant with time.
Piercings and Pink Hair
It's funny how these two went side to side together in time. This was the year going into my junior year of high school. It was my teen angst years of trying to rebel against my parents and trying to be my own individual. It was the summer of going into music boarding camp with hot pink hair (the pink began to fade during the time of the photo) and coming out with three new piercings. My parents told me I was going to regret them later in life and how I'll permanently have ugly holes in my ears, but 5 years down the road and I'm still loving them!
Skydiving
The law in California is that if you're 15 and older, with your parents consent, you can go skydiving. Of course, my parents did not want me to go. So immediately once I turned 18, I used my graduation money on one of the best experiences of my life. I plan on going again one day but as an adrenaline junky, alone next time.
Swimming in January
Coming from California, night swimming is such a fun pastime for me. BUT in Oklahoma... you do not want to be swimming in November at 2am. My sophomore year of college during Thanksgiving break, when everyone else left to go home, a group of us who couldn't go back home did this. Though it makes a great story, I do not recommend it. We all got sick.
Abandoned Asylum
Just getting back to Oklahoma, I know this will be an exciting junior year. The week before I started school again, my friends and I went to an abandoned asylum. I felt like I was in a real life horror movie, except there were no lights leading the way, and we weren't sure that it was haunted. It was an experience I would never forget.
I love how I can say when I get older, I lived an exciting full life. I've always wanted to be that grandma who was cool and hip with the young kids.
