Being a skinny girl stuck in a fat girl’s body are the labels that are given to us by society, this shapes the way the world and ourselves look at each other and our own bodies. Getting out of these labels are impossible, someone will always describe you as the person who needs to or did lose weight. The ones who are born skinny, big boned or in between. Judged on attractiveness, healthiness and acceptable based on flesh and meat on bone. These labels are boxes that do not allow for change, or exit. The world will ruin the mental status of a child based on what they deem as acceptable. A goal that no one can reach unless they step into photo editing software. The only way to end these labels and open the boxes is for the population to stop shaming others into unreal expectations. This is starting to be done throughout Europe, in the modeling industry. Those who are running it are making a clear rule against their models being unhealthy and overly skinny. With some sort of change being put in place perhaps there will not be as many children who grow up with eating disorders. Maybe conversions will be had about loving yourself from a young age, so that when children grow up there is no confusion on how they should feel about themselves. There are so many conversations that need to be had about the growing problem on both sides of the weight scale. Those who eat to feel loved, and those who starve should know that what they weigh is not who they are and not who they will become. Only when we work together as a society will there no longer be a skinny girl stuck in a fat girl’s body. There will be only personalities to describe the people to others, and the way their presence lights up a room rather than the way someone fits into clothes. There is still much work to be done for the upcoming generations to no longer be placed in these boxes, but it starts with us.
