I have spent my whole life always being self-conscious of my appearance, whether it be my face or body. Throughout my life I was always bullied, even when I was a size 5. I still got called fat because I had a double chin, which seems to be a genetic thing in my family. I always received many back handed comments about my appearance such as in 7th grade I received the comment “How does someone with such nice boobs and a body like that have a face like that?” Or the generic “Oh you’re so fat no one will ever love you.” Since then I have always been so disgusted to look in a mirror I even at one point had an eating disorder because of the words people had said to me until recently I have come to terms with the fact my face is alright. However, my body that’s a whole different story, I’m always disappointed every time I go shopping and can’t find anything cute in a size 12. I always notice how they don’t really make short shorts or skirts for my size. In some stores a size 12 is considered a plus size. I often thought why, why can’t I wear cute clothes as well? Well after asking someone if they think it’s ridiculous. I got a response of “You shouldn’t wear short shorts only girls with something to look at should wear those” I was in utter shock that someone would give me such an answer. I have always considered myself curvy not obese/plus sized. I look at girls who are a size 00-5 and often think it’s an unrealistic body expectation. The people who are considered “ideal weight” are often so skinny they look anything but healthy. A lot of people use the BMI chart as a representation of weight. Many researchers now say that BMI is no longer an accurate way to measure weight. I have technically been “overweight” to this scale even when I was a size 5. A size 5 is over-weight; to me that shows about the way our society views weight. I often wonder why we don’t use inches in woman’s clothes the same way they do with men’s clothes? A lot of people say it’s because woman would be upset or offended by their size in inches. Honestly, I would rather see my true measurements vs. some number that varies store by store and just makes me feel worse about my weight than I already do. As I am currently still working on my body confidence which I hope to one day feel better about. You may be wondering where I’m going with all of this information. Weight distribution varies person to person and no matter what size you are or how you look someone will always be there to put you down. Nobody needs that negativity in there life. The next time someone tell you you’re obese according to the “BMI” ignore them or hell better yet educate them on how its been proven inaccurate. You are wonderful and beautiful just the way you are forget the number on the scale and the size of your jeans.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
