Six Types Of Guys You Will Meet In A Fraternity

Going to a fraternity party or event, you will encounter many types of guys, from the  raging douchebag to the nice and cute new pledge.

Here are the six types you will meet.

1. President. The ultimate fraternity man; the epitome of a college bro and so frat. This man will, most likely, be an upper classman, meaning he will know how to sweep you off of your feet and straight into his bed after years of practice. He's charming, has all of the hook-ups to the good alcohol and can impress you with his authority over the pledges. Sure, he's cute, funny and nice, but be careful. He's just going through his cycle of the new crop of freshman pledges in his favorite sororities. This description is not limited to the president (and not all presidents are like this). He may just like to pretend he is president to score girls.

2. Alcoholic. This is the guy everyone likes to party with. He is the face of the college (like Jim Belushi’s character in Animal House) and your parents' worst nightmare. You will probably find him under the influence 95 percent of the time you see him, including classes and on-campus events. He's over-the-top, collects the money for all the good quality alcohol and throws the best parties. This man is usually pretty friendly, but he can be an asshole when he mixes multiple types of alcohol.

3. “Careful” Man. This man initially joined his fraternity for the post-college alumni connections and the community service, but has since developed into a careful drinker. He will occasionally get wasted, but is usually the guy to call when something goes wrong. He is always there when you're in trouble or need a little help carrying your friend home. He is also one of the best ones to take to your formal since he’s always helping others and is awesome to have around in your life. The “Careful” man will probably end up being very successful, whether it's in his fraternity or after graduation. Definitely pursue him if you have the chance – he probably has a long line of girls waiting to steal him.

4. Stoner. Every fraternity has a guy or two who loves to dance with Mary Jane. They're usually pretty chill and come off very quiet. At parties, you can usually find them toking up out of some crazy, huge, standing glass pipe. Stoner fraternity guys don't like to drink much, but when they mix both, everyone around them is sure to have a great time. What they do to earn enough money for the ganja is most of the time a mystery.

5. Meat Head. This guy just loves his football and gym time. He's very dedicated to his sports teams, and watches his games religiously. He is also very headstrong about his opinions regarding those teams, so stay away from the topic of sports if your teams are rivals. The third most important thing in his life, after sports and his fraternity, are his muscles. He visits the gym every day, has a strict routine and never misses leg day. His body is phenomenal and so is his charm. However, at the end of the day, he will most likely choose sports and the gym before you.

6. Pledge. This boy just accepted his bid and is more than thrilled to be a part of Greek life. Everything is so new to him, but after his first time throwing up, he will soon realize that he has a lot to learn about college. He is also very excited to be surrounded by so many hot college girls, so he will gladly fetch you and your hot friends drinks at his fraternity's parties, escort you home and take you to your formal. It's probably his first sorority event, so he will be over the moon to take you.

Not all fraternities have these types of guys, but if they do, you're in for the best and most interesting ride of your life. Eventually, you will learn to deal with the jerks and embrace the sweethearts but, for now, know who you’re dealing with. Enjoy the new people and have fun!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
