Valentine's Day is all about spreading the love, which means that it should be a happy holiday, but sometimes single girls can't help but feel bitter towards happy couples - I know we've all been there. Here are some things you can do to stay positive and embrace your single-ness this Saturday.
1. See "Fifty Shades of Gray." Everyone's going to be talking about it. I know you want to.
2. If you don't want to go to the movies, stay in and have a rom com marathon. Rom coms are my guilty pleasure. They can be emotional roller coasters, but there's always a happy ending (and a good-looking guy).
3. Have a wine night with your friends. Wine nights are basically the cure to everything and almost always seem to make everything better.
4. Get Chipotle (or pizza, or sushi, or Chinese food). Because food always seems to make everything better, too.
5. Bring it back to your elementary school days. Buy or print out funny Valentine's cards and give them out to your friends: a unique way to spread the love, and laughs.
6. Go shopping. Treat yourself. Nothing a little retail therapy can't fix, right?
7. Go on a date with your best friend. Who needs a significant other when you already have someone you can talk to about anything, and can make you cry from laughter on command?
8. Make a single girl playlist with songs like "Blank Space" and "How to Be a Heartbreaker" to make you feel better about being single.
9. Get your hair, nails or eyebrows done. I'm sure every girl can agree that getting pampered can really make you feel like a new person.
10. Work out. Go for a run or do yoga. Release endorphins - you'll look AND feel good afterwards.
11. Remember that it doesn't matter whether you're in a relationship or not! In my 20 years of living, I've never had a Valentine, but I've survived. Everyone in life has problems, whether they're single or taken. Valentine's Day should be a day to spread love and happiness, eat some chocolate and maybe even forget about those problems for a little bit. Your time will come, but until then, either spend time with the loved ones that you already do have OR treat yourself, because being the busy and hardworking college student that you are, you deserve more than you give yourself credit for.
