Yes, I actually just said that.
Cuffing season is here and with Valentine's Day right around the corner it can become difficult to remember how awesome it is to be single. There are a few obvious reasons, such as being able to hog your entire bed without feeling guilty, but there are also a few reasons that tend to be forgotten.
1. Waiting for Mr. Right is better than settling for Mr. Right Now.
You're going to kiss a few frogs (maybe many) before finding the lucky person that gets to take you off the market. Some of these frogs may be pretty great and at first you may be influenced by all your friends saying "how cute y'all would be together", but ultimately, you know that settling for mediocre love is much worse than being single. No, you don't have commitment issues and this doesn't mean you're too picky for your own good. This simply means that you are content enough to be alone and wait for the person who drives you crazy, in all the right ways.
Which is freaking awesome.
2. You're allowed to be 100 percent selfish
There isn't another person's feelings to consider when making your decisions. You do what you want, when you want, without needing to explain or justify those decisions to anyone. There is no consulting or compromising about anything, which means if you want Cookout for dinner for the third night in a row... you're getting it.
Again, awesome.3. "I-n-d-e-p-e-n-d-e-n-t do you know what that mean?"
You've learned to depend on yourself and yourself only. Doing things on your own has taught you to be independent (maybe a little headstrong sometimes) and incredibly confident in who you are. You've built a world of your own and you are strong. There is nothing more powerful than a woman who does not need validation from anyone and you have become just that.
And if you ask me, I'd say that's pretty awesome.
