A Planner App That Will Change The Way You Get Organized

There's no doubt about it, I love a good planner. There is just something so satisfying about seeing a daily, weekly, and monthly view of the things you've accomplished, the things you are working on and the things that are coming up in your future. That's why when I heard about The Simplified Planner App by Emily Ley, I got extremely excited.

Emily Ley defines the app as "a clean slate. Much like the original paper version, the Simplified Planner App holds your calendar, to do lists, notes and weekly dinner plans in one simple, happy place."

The app does just that, and it makes this planner freak so happy!

So let's start with the design of the app.

I absolutely love the interface of this app, from the cute pineapple logo, to the simple and easy to use menu across the bottom; it is perfect. When you open the app, you are greeted by the things scheduled for your day, any dinner plans you have made or what you are planning on cooking, and an inspirational quote that changes daily and gives you the option to share it across your social media platforms. Everything is in a color scheme, and everything is laid out simply, beautifully and accessibly.

Now let's talk about the Calendar, aka the meat and potatoes of any planner.

The calendar has a daily, monthly, and yearly planner view. You can click on any event you have created to view it and edit it, and adding events is easier than taking a walk in the park! The app also gives you tips and reminders for staying organized year round. You can also set reminders and alarms for events, which is definitely something a paper planner can't give you!

So what about the To-Do List?

The to-do list is wonderful. You can organize your different lists in an ombre color scheme and make the most important the darkest down to the lightest! How cool is that! You can make as many lists as you want and you can check items off, and when you have completed them, you can share your accomplishments with you friends via social networking. Is that motivation or what?!

Now let's talk about Notes!

I know what you are thinking: "Cassidy, come on. IPhones already come with a notes app." Trust me, though -- this is way better (sorry, Apple). The notes section of The Simplified Planner App allows you to open as many notes as you desire to journal, jot down ideas, and take notes. Then you can save them, share, them, and even print them! How handy is that!

Lastly, everyone's favorite topic: dinner.

As a college student living in a sorority house with no kitchen, I didn't really find this section of the app appealing at first. That is, until I figured out how it worked best for me. You can put in what you eat daily, as well as enter ingredients, then view your week at a glance and see if you've eaten healthy, if you've eaten enough, etc. The dinner section is a great way to stay accountable for being healthy!

Overall, I love The Simplified Planner App. There are only three things I would change.

1. The app itself is $4.99. It isn't a bad price, especially considering everything the app offers, but paying for apps always sucks.

2. The standard color scheme of the app is navy and blue tones with gold accents. If you want something different, say pink or mint or purple, you have to pay $0.99 per color scheme. I think that if I am already paying $5 for the app, I should be able to at least pick one color scheme.

3. I wish there was a weekly view for the calendar. I love being able to see my week at a glance, but I have to click on each individual day with this app.

Even with the three things I would change about this app, I wouldn't trade it for anything else! I love The Simplified Planner App by Emily Ley, and I know you will too!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
