Have you ever called your parents and needed them to answer but instead of hearing their voice you hear that annoying pre-recorded voicemail? Do you ever feel like seems to happen with God or am I the only one?
I know that people always say, "God is quiet during the midst of the storm.” I mean I’ve even said it, but have you ever wondered why He chooses to be quiet when we feel we need Him? I know that I do. Why is it when I feel like I need God the most He seems to be too “busy” to answer me. It’s in those moments I begin to overthink and wonder if He even loves and cares for me. It doesn’t take me too long to come to my senses and realize that He loves me more than anyone in this world and cares more for me than anything.
Even coming to said conclusions, I still constantly wonder why He doesn’t seem like He’s all there for me when I am battling to keep my head above the water. Let’s take right now in my life for an example; I am a freshman in college, two and half hours away from home, and stressed beyond belief. Right now it seems like God just isn’t there for me, but as I write this I know that God is always there for me. Currently it’s 12:50 am and I cannot sleep, so I have headphone in blasting “How He Loves” by David Crowder Band. If you are ever doubting if God is there for you, I advise you to get alone and turn up this song.
I think God doesn’t answer right away because he knows we aren’t going to get the answer we want. For example, I lost a little boy dear to me just three years ago and I always used to ask "why?", but it seemed like God never heard me asking why he took him. It’s because God knew I couldn’t handle the answer he was going to give me, so instead of hurting me by providing an unwanted answer, he just let me go to voicemail until I stopped asking. Through that experience my faith and relationship with God has restarted and been stronger. Don’t get me wrong, I am in no way where I need to be because I have horrible habits, but my relationship is stronger than it was prior to said experience.
God picks us up at our most vulnerable times, hugs us, and puts us back on our feet so that we may go conquer the world with His help. God is our strength, so when you feel weak realize that you need to cry out to God for his help.
“This is what the Lord God of your ancestor David says: I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Look, I will heal you.” 2 Kings 20:5
Times get tough and parents may not answer every phone call, but God is always listening whether he answers right away or not.
