So, we all know the suffering when a friend of ours is dating someone who totally sucks. When they constantly complain and you sit there, a willing listener, but you're also enraged that anyone would ever treat your friend this way. And the worst times are when the friend doesn't see it--so here's something you can show your friend to prove to them that they're boyfriend or girlfriend is not that great.
1. They are hypocritical.
This is one of the first, but most unnoticed signs. People tend to look at hypocrisy as a small flaw, but really it will end up leading to manipulation where he or she is always right and you are always wrong. They get mad if you do something, but then they're allowed to do it because they are the exception to the rule. And they will do this for every silly little thing, making you feel crazy when you get mad.
2. They spend more time with their friends than they do with you.
This is a clear sign that he or she doesn't value their time with you. This is also a clear sign of disrespect. They believe that now that you are their boyfriend or girlfriend, they don't have to spend as much time with you. They have become comfortable without fulfilling their end of the bargain.
3. They blow up your complaint into a huge argument.
You ask for them to spend the day with you and when they invite their friend that happens to be the opposite sex over, and you get upset, it's not an argument about spending time together but one about how he or she can't talk to the opposite sex. It turns into them making you look like the bad guy.
4. They take you for granted.
You feel yourself slipping through the cracks. He or she doesn't bother to call or text when they should and they aren't considerate of your feelings. They believe that now that you're together, you will put up with all their antics lovingly.
5. They don't change for the better or they don't change at all.
No matter how hard you try to make them see their bad habits or how hard you try to help them change what they don't like about themselves, they don't change. They complain, but they make no effort to fix their situation.
6. Despite your best efforts, you've become a nag.
Due to his or her lack of motivation, you end up having to nag at them about what they do. You beg them to please see it from your point of view, but they cannot. And as much as you don't want to sit around pointing out the things that bother you, they continue to repeat the same behaviors no matter how many talks you have.
7. They have no accountability.
As awful as it is, there are people who refuse to admit when they are wrong. When you realize that they spend more time trying to make excuses than trying to fix things, you should realize that they may not be the match for you.
The one thing to remember is these people aren't bad people, they are immature people. People who are not ready to be in a relationship, and as hard as you try, you just cannot maintain the spark for as long as you may like.
