A look at the important benefits of water

Why You Should Drink More Water
The Stewardship Report

I’m sure you’ve heard it a thousand times: Drink more water. But do you know the benefits of increasing how much water you drink? Keeping your body well hydrated might be tough but is essential for a healthy and well-functioning body.

Here are just a few benefits I saw of upping my water intake and staying hydrated!

1. Weight Loss

When I first started my quest to improve my health I cut out all drinks except water. I carried my water bottle with me everywhere. Through the simple addition of a water bottle I started to feel less hungry and as a result started eating less. Research shows this is a great way to lose weight and feel better.

2. Clearer Skin

The second and most unexpected benefit of drinking more water was the decrease of acne. I’ve always struggled with acne and to see my skin become clearer and almost glowing was the best side effect. The extra water you drink flushes out the toxins that can build up and cause acne. Clear skin? Yes, please!

3. Increased Energy

Anyone could tell you that I am not the most energetic person. I’m constantly napping and I’ll fall asleep anywhere: on a plane, driving to a golf match, or even sitting in my desk chair in my dorm. It may not seem like my energy has increased, because I still nap a lot, but there has been a huge change with both the daily energy I have and the amount of fatigue I feel.

4. Health Boost

When I was a little girl my mom told me the trick to not getting sick was to drink water so my cells would stay strong and not let germs in. This piece of advice seemed to work, as whenever my water intake would drop I would get sick again. It makes sense too, as a common home remedy for any sickness is to drink lots of clear fluids and rest.

Sometimes it’s hard to add more water to your day, especially when it's half your body weight in ounces. What I have found to be the most helpful is a cute water bottle (I have 12) that inspires you to keep hydrated!

Here are some cute water bottles that could help you drink more.

Polar Bottle USA Flame Sport Insulated 24 oz. Water Bottle, $10.99

The ZULU Atlas 20 oz. Glass Water Bottle, $14.99

S'well Love Collection Star-Crossed Water Bottle 9-25 oz., $25-$45

Whether you find a beautiful glass water bottle or cover a plastic one in stickers, make sure you have one that makes you happy to drink water! Drink up and stay healthy!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
