Yes, this might be what you do for the rest of your life. It’s a big decision, where your future might depend on it. Your parents might be mad at you when you tell them you’ve changed your major again. You might want to change your major again in the future. You might find out that over time you don’t like the major you in. You might.
But you’ll never know unless you try.
This is your life, why are you so worried about what your parents will say? Why are you so worried about what your peers will think? Why are you worried what you will think? Yes, mom and dad might be paying for college, but they support you for whatever make you happy. So find something that makes you happy, find something that makes you, you!
But, if you can’t find that one thing that you like, or that one thing you can see doing for the rest of your life, it is completely okay. Don’t feel alone, there are countless numbers of others that feel the exact same way. But, what you need to realize is that the selection of a major is not the most important decision in college. The most important decision in college is allowing the atmosphere of college to help your development. If you disregard this atmosphere, then you’re at college for half of the reason you should to be. You might as well be as immature as a senior in high school.
College is a growing time, where just like our bodies, we experience growing pains. These pains happen sporadically throughout our four to five years here. We find ourselves like no other time. We allow us to be ourselves. Where we finally realize that life isn’t about pleasing others, its about pleasing yourself. Yes, the education is half of the reason to attend college (sorry mom and dad), but this development in maturity, social skills, and responsibility should be the main reason to attend college.
In conclusion, if you think that no one supports your choice in major, or your choice in lifestyle, just remember that I do. Even though I may not know you personally, I still support you. All I want from you is to find something that you love, find something that makes you happy, find that one thing that makes you, you.
“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all, love of what you are doing.” - Pele
