An old soul is hard to come by, but sweet for certain. An old soul is a person with a spirit beyond their years. Encompassing an old soul has its perks and betrayals, but if you know someone with this spirit, they will be hard to forget. Here are seven ways to determine if you have an old soul.

1. You are content with the little things.

Your day is made by waking up to the sunlight on your face. Having tea in the morning sets the tone for an incredible day. You appreciate the clear blue skies, green grass and slight breeze more than the average person would. You realize that the little things are what take up the most room in your heart, creating the utmost genuine happiness. Things like a long drive on a 75 degree day or a freshly brewed cup of coffee from home are what makes every day something that shouldn't be taken for granted.

2. You would rather stay in than go out.

You are social, without a doubt, but you are past the experimental alcohol phase of your life. People your age are still going out every weekend, binge drinking and making mistakes they know they will regret. People around you are still learning and messing around while they can. On the other hand, you don't care for nights you won't remember. You would much rather lay in bed, cuddled up watching Netflix or home decorating shows. You love to knit or read books because you feel you actually get something out of doing so. You aren't a homebody, you just know what is worth your energy and what is not.

3. Your friends come to you for advice.

You are the relationship guru. You know what to do and what not to do when it comes to making life choices. Your friends come to you naturally when they need help or advice because you always know what they need to hear. You know exactly what to say, even during times when no one else knows what to say. You have an approachable, motherly instinct about you that makes people warm up to you. You have a warm spirit and kind soul that gives people a sense of reason. You are wise beyond your years.

4. You relate to adults.

Most of your friends are older than you. You get along naturally with adults better than people your age. You feel wise for your age, so the only thing better than sharing your wisdom is discussing it with people who have had similar life experiences. Some people your age disrespect adults because they feel like they are trying to run their fun, but in reality most adults are looking out for you. You understand this.

5. You rarely relate to people your age.

You sit in class and hear the guys next to you rave on about how many girls they have hooked up with. A girl in your spin class talks about how she threw up that morning from blacking out the night before. Kids are laughing because someone said a person was retarded and somehow, that was the best joke of the day. When you casually go through your day, you feel like an outsider sometimes. Your soul is over the hype of going to a university. You are set on your goals, traveling to new places and meeting people. You live for the genuine moments with good vibes and kind hearts, not evenings you won't remember and side comment jokes that you don't think are funny.

6. You have experienced life changing obstacles in your life.

Likely, you have been through some trying times in your life. It would not be a surprise if you have conquered life changing obstacles that made you who you are today. In life, sometimes it takes a difficult time in your life to change your perspective. After going through hard times, you gain wisdom and start to see the real measure of how bad a problem really is. You stop getting worked up over the little things because you know how much worse it can be. You have been through enough to know what life is really about... the little things.

7. You never take a day for granted.

You treat every day like it is the best day. I mean yes, of course you have hard times and sometimes days can be awful, but for the most part you truly make the most of every day. You spend time, not money. You want to make memories. You want people to know how much you love them. You take the time to craft letters and thoughtful messages. You would rather meet someone for an hour long coffee conversation rather than text message them. You never once take a day for granted because you are thankful for what you have today.

Some people are old at nineteen, some people are old at ninety. Your soul is determined by what happens in your life and how you respond to it. A soul never dies.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
