Senior year, the final lap. We all want to go out with a bang. Here's a few dos and don'ts for the coming year from a senior who doesn't have it all figured out yet--and that's just fine.
(1) Don't freak out about not having a job lined up, but don't NOT freak out. Figure out what you want to do. Then apply for both easily attainable and higher risk jobs.
(2) Go to events you wouldn't normally go to. Remember that after graduation, everything costs money.
(3) Understand that the real world is terrifying, but accept that it is pretty awesome as well.
(4) Do what you want, follow your dreams. Remember that money isn't everything. Try to pick a career that combines what you love, what you're good at and what pays well.
(5) Then again, you went to college, so no need to be poor forever. Consider your options, but don't just accept the first offer because it's a big number.
(6) Don't live life for the weekends. I want to love my life 7 days a week, not just after 5 p.m. and on the weekend. Make sure you love what you do.
(7) Don't take a gap year just because you're scared of real life. Jump on in--this real life thing is gonna stick around.
(8) It's not embarrassing to live in a crappy apartment for a bit--it builds character and saves money.
(9) Don't feel like your track is set based on your college major. It's your life and things change. If you want to do something, do it, even if it has nothing to do with your major.
(10) Realize how fantastic your life is at thismoment, and enjoy it because things will never be the same.
Life doesn't end after college, I'd like to think that it truly gets better. But what is certain to happen is change. Your life will be good, but it will be different. Good different. Make your last year in undergrad count. Live a little, or a lot. This isn't the end; just a change, and change is good.
