A (Semi) Royal Wedding

A (Semi) Royal Wedding

This weekend their royal highnesses, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, took part in their first wedding. Their Aunt Pippa, Kate Middleton's sister, got married. They were Pageboy and Bridesmaid. I think that is the British equivalent to flower girl and ring barrier.

Earlier in the week, Kate said she wasn’t sure how the kids were going to behave because they were still young, but the two were undeniably adorable.

George looks like he is a take-charge little guy leading the group of boys into the church. I love little George's facial expressions.

George handles the press like a pro even at his young age. It looks like Charlotte may need a little practice. They both have being adorable down pat.

Kate’s role in the wedding was to wrangle the kids and to help fluff the bride's dress before she entered the church. I think it was pretty amazing that she wanted to stand up for her only sister but declined to do so because she would take the spotlight from the bride. Kate wanted the day to be about her sister, not her.

There was a moment that little Charlotte needed some mommy encouragement to behave. It is nice to see that even the future Queen of England can get a "Mommy Face" when her kids start to act up. Thanks for keeping it real Kate.

At one point this little boy must have started to misbehave. If you have ever been in charge of children you have had this face at one point. It is great to see that even a Royal can get the "If you don't behave I will make your life miserable" look on their face.

The desire to not steal the spotlight isn't just a Kate thing. Prince Harry showed up to the wedding without his soon to be fiancé for the same reason. It isn't the royals being uppity, it is just the truth that they understand Kate and Harry's girlfriends would cause the media to go crazy. They had to have a security detail for the wedding because of their involvement at all.

The semi-royal wedding had guests who were dressed to impress and in the true British way, the hats worn were out of this world. Pippa may not be a royal herself, but the royal family was represented heavily.

The wedding was at Saint Marks Chapel, a beautiful old church, while the reception is an adult-only affair on the grounds of the Middleton estate.

Now that Charlotte and George have the practice, they will be prepared for Uncle Harry and Aunt Megan’s wedding in the future.

I know the world will be waiting to see the smallest royals decked out in beautiful clothes like they were for Aunt Pippa’s wedding.

I appreciate the royals trying to not upstage the bride, but when you have these two cuties in your wedding party it is hard.

Congratulations Pippa and James Mathews, we wish you many years of happiness and thank you for giving the world tons of new pictures of our favorite little royals.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
