Two months ago, I made the best decision of my life. I am pretty much known for spreading myself thin, so when I saw the opportunity to become a Scentsy Independent Consultant, I hopped right on it. And boy, am I so glad that I did!
I didn't have any prior sales experience, so it was all new for me when I started. I still don't know what I'm doing half of the time. But I have always loved the products, so it makes it easy to sell to others when you have a passion for what you do. On that note, I'd wager to say that I am working my dream job. Okay, maybe not my personal dream job, but I definitely love my job. I work with amazing people who love what they're doing. There is so much enthusiasm shared throughout the Scentsy community, and I instantly felt welcomed the second I decided to become a part of it.
There are so many reasons why I feel so blessed to be doing what I do, and this list definitely does not do it justice. But, here are a few of the key reasons why I love being an Independent Sales Consultant for Scentsy:
1. Everyone I work with is so nice and helpful. When I started, I had an endless amount of questions. Honestly, I still do. One of the best things about Scentsy is the loving and supportive community filled with people just like me who are excited to help out. I mean honestly, you'd think that a business filled with individuals all trying to sell the same product and make a living would be slightly competitive. Maybe it is and I just haven't experienced that yet. But we all run in our own circles and I am so thankful to have had the mentors and help that I've had. Without my Scentsy family, I wouldn't be where I am today.
2. Honestly, it's nice to have an extra paycheck each month. They say if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life. I never knew this saying to be true until I started working for Scentsy. Starting up your own business is scary, but if you ask me (and probably anyone else who has been successful), it is totally worth it. As a broke college student, finding sources of income with my busy schedule is nothing short of tough. I've only received one paycheck so far, and without saying how much it was, I can honestly say that I've made back more than what I've put into my business. Not only that, but I've made money doing what I love.
3. My house has never smelled better. Honestly...I have a scent addiction. It was rapidly acquired, and is quickly growing. I don't think it's possible to have enough Scentsy. Okay, maybe it is, but you need to have A LOT of it for it to be enough. It's kind of like trying to reach infinity. It keeps growing the closer you get. Anyway, thanks to my newest addiction, my house smells amazing. I've gotten my mom addicted as well, so we constantly have our warmers turned on heating delightful scents that make the house happy. An amazing thing about Scentsy is that there are hundreds of scents, and they are constantly coming out with new products. (Have you seen their new laundry line?? No? Go check it out, seriously.)
4. I've been forced to be social. Whether I'm hosting an online party and helping my amazing hosts earn free product (for doing practically nothing, which is great), or reaching out for help, I am constantly having to step out of my comfort zone and talk to others. It isn't always easy asking customers to spend their hard-earned money on a product; "Hey, give me your credit card information so I can place this order for you!" Honestly, it will probably never get easier. But I do take comfort in the fact that I know my customers will love their products. House parties to me seem very old-school, what with Facebook parties sparking up like wildfires. I hosted my first one this week, and it didn't go as well as I had hoped, but regardless of the turnout, it was fun. I mean, like really fun. I got to set up and put up some decorations and then share my love for Scentsy. Watching my customers get excited was probably the best feeling ever.
From the Laundry Line, to adorable Buddies, to beautiful diffusers, or even just the classic wax warmers, Scentsy has so many different products to offer. I know I am not working a job that will last a lifetime, but my experiences in only two months will be carried with me forever. I love my job. I love everyone I work with. For me, saying "I'm working" usually means I am spreading my love for the amazing products or throwing a party. If I could go back in the past and change anything, I would definitely go back and start selling Scentsy sooner.
