On Aug. 1, of this year my family and I began on journey to Washington, DC to visit my aunt and uncle. Along the way we came across many different adventures and little moments that were so beautiful I wish I could explain each view that I saw on this trip. From the mountains we drove through, to the fields that lasted for miles, to the cities we toured, to finally arriving to our nation's monuments in person. Each view came together as a wonderful picture.
But let me tell you about the best thing I noticed during our family adventures.
It wasn't just the huge buildings that we had never seen before, or the way the city lit up at night. It wasn't just the way the wind would slightly blow through our bodies when we were melting from the sun, or the way that each bike we took was satisfying. It wasn't just the gardens full of the most unforgettable flowers, or the different museums full of nothing but history and pure passion behind each one. It wasn't just the small games we would play in order to find a parking spot, or the amount of cops patrolling.
The best thing, absolute most amazing thing about our adventure.. Do you want to take a guess?
It was seeing with my own eyes the beautiful and unique people every inch that I turned. The different customs, the unfamiliar way of living, the uncommon languages, and let's not forget the way each person acted. I began to expand my love for the multiple nationalities I was seeing. God literally placed each person in front of me and allowed me to notice the small details of them.
I couldn't help but think to myself "God you make the most breathtaking sunsets, the most gorgeous landforms, the most magnificent animals, but God, how did you make each person in a different way, yet they are individually b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l."
As we returned home to Arkansas and I started college, my thoughts of the people I saw in one place only make me want to see the beauty within everyone else I see here. I encourage you to take the time to just sit in a somewhat busy area around your town, and just watch the people passing by (don't be creepy about it) but in each person that walks on through, I want you to pick out only the good in them. Point out that they are absolutely beautiful even if they weren't raised the same way as you, they didn't have the same lifestyle as you, they may not speak or act the same way as you, the color of their skin may be different from yours but hey, guess what?
They are b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l. just like you.
