In This Article:

Oh, the joys of looking for a new job. There truly is nothing like it, the constant wavering between self-doubt and excitement, anxiety, and relief. If you've been through it you're going to you can relate to these. Here are some of the stages you'll go through in your job search.

1. Looking at your resume and realizing you need a major facelift.

When applying for a new job, what you need more than anything is bomb resume. The first thing they see is your resume so you have to wow them. But more often than not it just stresses you out because you realize just how much you need to hype yourself up.

2. Scrolling through job listings trying to find the perfect fit.

This can get almost addicting. You scroll and scroll and scroll, finding some that are amazing, some that you guess you could make work. And then you find your dream job and the hard part comes … trying to actually prove you're the best fit.

3. When you find one and then look through the required skills…

This is both an exciting and the most nerve-racking thing ever. As you scroll through the job posting you see item after item that's needed, which leads to…

4. Realizing that you’re not an expert in everything.

Unfortunately, you cannot be a connoisseur at everything. That's just a fact. However, you can't focus on this.

5. But also, accepting that you have majority of the requirements, so you’re good.

You can do it. You have so much to offer and it's time you accept that. You have what it takes. You are a great candidate and your future employer is going to see that…once you apply.

6. When you are actually applying.

Now, here is when your body is completely overcome with anxiety when you actually have to hit the submit button. This is it. With a deep breath and a prayer, you hope for the best.

7. Waiting, waiting, and waiting some more.

Oh, the most dreaded part of the process, having to wait for a response to your application. Here is where you begin to literally question everything you've ever done in your life. Got 1 B? Yep, I'm stupid. Aren't a complete expert in excel? Why did you even bother applying? The self-doubt is a curse.

8. You get a response, and it's bad news.

So it may not have worked out the way you imagined. The tears stream, the ice cream pints pile up, but then you accept it. And do the whole thing over again because you have to and that's life. Sometimes things just don't work out how we plan, and that's OK.

9. When you get a response, and it's good news.

Get excited, because you actually have a job and the worries of feeling like a failure are beginning to dwindle. All your hard work has finally paid off. The long nights, the meltdowns, it all has led to this. You did it!

Remember to be positive. Your dream job is out there and it's waiting for you. Keep your head up, you can do it!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
