Scripture For Every College Student

We're all stressed, and by "we" I mean all college students

From the freshman that are entering a whole new world, the students in the midst of their college careers, and the seniors that are about to move on after this school year, this article is for you. There are those nights I'm up until it's morning, trying to balance good grades and a social life, and wishing there was more time in a day.

It may feel intimidating, overwhelming, or just plain undoable at times but how awesome is it we can always look up to Him? No matter how bad you're stressing about that one test or feeling like your life is a mess His word shows calmness in the storm. Here are some bible verses that He is right there with you, every step of the way.

For when you fear the future

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future" Jeremiah 29:11

It may be scary not knowing what the future holds for that certain career, relationship, or how things will pan out. He reminds us that his plan holds nothing but happiness for our futures.

For when you need peace

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with Thanksgiving, present your requests to God" -Philippians 4:6

Being anxious about a number of things can be totally normal as a college student. Looking at the positives and praying for peace can cancel out all anxiety about anything that is happening in our lives.

For when you need guidance

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep you over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze." -Isaiah 43:2

When you're going through the motions, highs and lows, God is always there. He is there to lift us up through the bad times and be there for the good.

For when you feel overwhelmed

"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth" -Pslam 46:10

Be still and know that his presence is enough through anything. During your worst struggles, He is right there with you.

For when you need strength

"Cast your anxiety on Him for he cares for You" -1 Peter 5:7

Strength to get through your exams, strength to be okay after a heartache, or just strength for your daily life. He is a rock and can always be supportive through it all.

Writing these scriptures down and looking at them really helps look at all the different ways God supports us. College can be a hard time with many trials but looking at the way God is with us can make any college student look at the perspective in a way He would want us too. In church the other Sunday I wrote down "where God guides, He provides"; He has a plan and it is to support us through anything!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
