I'm a huge horror movie fan, I've watched them since middle school and have made a mental list of the ones worth re-watching. No, I'm not talking about the "cheesy" scary movies like 'Chucky' or 'Scary Movie,' I'm talking about the ones that actually give you the creeps. Since October is just around the corner, here's a compiled list of some good ones you can watch with your boo. (Not in any particular order)
1. 'It Follows'
This is a good choice because it's right at your fingertips with our good old friend, Netflix. This movie is kind of indescribable, but it's basically a demonic STD. Only watching it can fill you in on what I mean.
2. 'It'
If you haven't seen 'It' by now, you're a little behind. The second one is in theaters right now, so you better watch the first one this month. Come on.
3. 'The Babadook'
This is a really spooky movie about a child who goes crazy because of some book that his mom reads to him. It sounds lame, but trust me, you'll start thinking every jacket in your closet is a man watching you.
4. 'Annabelle'
I mean, you are seriously behind if you haven't seen 'Annabelle' yet. There's like three of them out by now, so cuddle up and get ready for a creepy doll marathon. This is like the better version of the 'Chucky' movies, IMO.
5. 'The Shining'
I had to add at least one classic into the list, and this one definitely makes the cut. It's an oldie, but a goodie. Watch this one with your parents, maybe, since it came out before you were even born.
6. 'Gerald's Game'
Who knew a sexy trip to a cabin with the hubby would turn into this nightmare? This one is a little humorous at first, but once you make it past that, it gets really freaky.
7. 'A Quiet Place'
Normally, I wouldn't even categorize this as a horror movie. But, it's such a good thrill that I had to add it in. The whole movie is a phenomenon.
8. 'The Perfection'
This is another Netflix hit where the whole movie seems wacky and then the ending is even wackier. This psychological thriller has a great plot twist.
9. 'The Visit'
Speaking of plot twists, 'The Visit' has a pretty good one. All these kids wanted was to meet their grandparents, but this movie proves that even that can be a struggle sometimes.
10. 'The House At The End Of The Street'
I've loved this movie for years and you bet I'll be re-watching it again this time around. It basically just reinforces you to never trust seemingly nice guys until you truly know them.
11. 'Pet Sematary'
For some reason, this movie horrifies my dad. I didn't think it was too bad, but who knows? Maybe dead animals trying to kill you is your thing.
12. 'Psycho'
I think they remade this movie with color, but I suggest watching it in black-and-white anyway. It gives way more of a spooky, old-timey feel.
13. 'Nightmare on Elm Street'
The remake is a little odd but adds a completely different field of horror to it than the originals. I'd start with the originals and work your way up to the remakes, for a better idea of what I mean.
Maybe you've already seen most of these, but the best thing about horror movies is that they're way better to watch the second time! Instead of hesitating to watch because you're scared of something popping out, you can relax and take a look at everything.
