Roommates By Chance, Now Sisters Forever

The overdue thank you.

Roommates By Chance, Now Sisters Forever

I never can relate to those who experience painful roommate experiences. Obviously, we all have our days; our attitudes and the moments that we think everything should be done our way. But then life hits us and we realize there are for greater things out there than ourselves and to me that’s led me to my forever family.

I never knew I was signing up for a forever friend my freshman year, let alone a forever family. I often over heard stories that you met your best friends in college, but honestly I wasn’t sure what that looked like till now.

I have too many “I owe you” moments to count, I have missed too many moments to say “thank you” and there are no words that can even come close to explaining what these past four years have met.

But here is a start, Thank you for...

  1. Being my absolute best friend.
  2. Dealing with my break ups.
  3. Making me experience separation anxiety over long breaks.
  4. Dealing with my dramatic screams.
  5. Being my stress reliever.
  6. Fighting with me like a sister.
  7. Catering to my every needs when I am incapable.
  8. Laughing for countless hours.
  9. Making memories without even knowing.
  10. Having someone to make midnight snacks with.
  11. Never letting me eat my waffles alone.
  12. Forever reading each others minds.
  13. Always giving me someone to cook with.
  14. Making my closet triple the size.
  15. Having too many inside jokes that we forget.
  16. Knowing what I need to hear before I even say it.
  17. Calling me out for being dumb.
  18. Stopping me from making poor choices.
  19. Allowing me to vent for endless hours.
  20. Listening to me cry.
  21. Telling me to stop when it’s been enough.
  22. Constantly pushing me to be the best version of myself.
  23. Understanding I overreact.
  24. Loving me for who I am.
  25. Giving me encouraging words.
  26. Giving me a family away from home.
  27. Online shopping with me when things get stressful.
  28. Betting the odds of keeping the same roommates all through college.
  29. Planning our futures out together.
  30. Being my motivator.
  31. Being my encourager.
  32. Being my better half.
  33. Celebrating the proud moments.
  34. Being more than a teammate, a roommate and a friend.
  35. Telling me when I am wrong.
  36. Allowing me to practice my speeches.
  37. Listening to me vent about how hard school is.
  38. Listening to my useless stories that make me happy.
  39. Folding my clothes.
  40. Doing the dishes.
  41. Showing me true southern hospitality.
  42. Discovering the balance between healthy and dessert.
  43. Celebrating the huge achievements.
  44. Not letting me be weird alone.
  45. Letting me see the past doesn’t define my future.
  46. Having the same mind as me.
  47. Making it through college side by side.
  48. Not giving up on me.
  49. Having nicknames for each others alter egos.
  50. Having dance parties.
  51. Allowing me to sing on the top of my lungs.
  52. Giving me someone to constantly put on my Snap story.
  53. Making college worth it.
  54. Being yourself - always.
  55. Giving me a role model.
  56. Being the Serena to my Blair.
  57. Teaching me what it means to be humble.
  58. Teaching me the true meaning of celebration.

I want you to know how thankful, how lucky, how blessed and how honored I am to be your roommate and now your forever sister.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
