11 Things You Know To Be True If Your Roommates Are Your Best Friends

Sometimes a random roommate is a recipe for a disasterous semester.

Fortunately enough, my random roommate has been a massive, massive blessing in my life. Her, my other roommate and I have the best times together and honestly, I can't imagine doing college without them this semester.

If you're lucky enough to live with your best friends, you know these eleven things are a daily occurrence in making life the best it can be.

1. Every meal is an ordeal.

One roommate is gluten free. Money is an issue. Everyone has different likes and dislikes. We all have different favorites. Whether we go out or cook a meal, there's never a dull moment.

2. You can't go out in public without making a scene.

My roommate and I were in line to get lunch the other day, and the boy in front of us legitimately looked scared and laughed at us as he walked away.

3. You have a group chat dedicated to your daily struggles.

Life is hard, but it's slightly more manageable when you have a constant team to build you up on those bad days.

4. Everyone knows when you've been separated too long.

You get cranky and sit at home on the couch waiting for that door to open so you have someone to vent to other than the wall.

5. Your secrets aren't secrets anymore.

I feel like this may just be me and my roommates, but I'm not kidding when I say they know everything about me. Take it as it is, but it makes life hilarious and we have tons of fun with it because it gives us all these inside jokes.

6. The living room is a true living room.

Often if roommates don't get along, a common living space is wasted. Our living room is used so often and is probably the most well-decorated room in our apartment; It doesn't matter if we're doing homework, having a movie night or a game night.

7. You always have someone to investigate a weird pimple.

It happens to the best of us, ok?

8. Laughter is a constant. So is crying.

We share the good, the bad, and the ugly and it makes for the best of times.

9. Family dinners are the best dinners.

There is nothing I love more than having dinner with everyone. During the day, we're all frequently busy with school and extracurriculars, even on the weekend. So having family dinners is a major highlight of my week.

10. Any time apart is too much.

I legitimately miss my roommates constantly; like right now, I'm not with them and I'm genuinely sad and can't wait to go home.

11. The most minuscule things are absolutely hysterical.

"She's gonna eat the taco AND the bell!"

I consider myself so lucky to have the roommates I do. There is nothing better than going home every day to your favorite people and so many laughs.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
