Robert M. Drake is one of the most eloquent Instagram poets out there. Almost every post I read, I can somehow relate to. He doesn't just understand people - he understands our hearts, emotions, the fears we keep buried beneath the surface. And while he has a way with helping us realize these hidden fragments of our soul, he also has a way with giving us hope to move past the hardest and darkest parts of our individual worlds. After the longest January, probably ever, I think some Robert M. Drake quotes are much needed to give February that extra boost of hope we are all searching for.

1. The Love Of A Friend

This month, focus on the friendships with those who care most about you, those who are there for you through thick and thin.

2. The Overthinking Is Not Worth It

No one likes overthinking; no one wants to overthink. It steals so much time and energy from us that we won't ever get back. This month, stop overthinking. Embrace change; embrace freedom; embrace the things that make you happy.

3. Don't Let Anyone Steal Your Smile

This month, find the person who cherishes your happiness as much as you do. Don't let anyone steal your smile, because in the end, the people who love you the most don't want to rob you of your laughter - they want join in with you.

4. Everything Happens For A Reason

February 2020 should mark the month that you finally let go of your overly-strict control on life. If there is anything I've learned within the past year, it is this. A lot happened that created wounds as deep as a crater, wounds that will inevitably take a lifetime to heal, but the mindset of acceptance has helped me to push forward past the difficult obstacles.

5. Be Patient, The Right People Will Come Around

I can 100% attest to this. If you don't feel like you're surrounded by the right people, just be patient. They will come. I'm so blessed for the current friends I have that fill all the holes in my heart that were dug up and left empty by previous people. The right people will come, and if you have to look a little harder for them this February, they're probably right around the corner waiting for you.

6. Embrace Life's Journey

Let February be a month of discovery. Overpower your broken pieces - don't let them become a whole broken version of you. Because sometimes when you feel broken, it's just a sign that you need to start discovering yourself. The journey awaits.

7. Forgive & Forget

Even in February 2020, nearly five years later, there is someone I still think about. Someone who enters my loneliest thoughts, and I can't help consider what my life would be like if they had chosen to stay in it. But it's time to leave that in the past. This month, move on from those who hurt you and never cared, from those who created toxicity. Don't make the choice to leave without forgiving, though; it'll create a greater inner peace to be the bigger person in your heart. But after that? Yeah, after that, I vote for the forgetting part.

8. You Are Enough

This month, every month, you are enough. The people who truly love you will always show you that. So if January has you feeling down and alone, take February as a reminder of all those who love you completely and unconditionally.

9. You Will Find Your Place

Maybe it will be in February; maybe it will be ten years from now. Either way, this month is the month to take comfort in the fact that you will find your place in the world, the place you want to be, in time. And it will be peaceful. It will be filled with love.

10. There Is Still Plenty Of Hope For 2020

And this says it all. Here's to a hopeful, peaceful, love-filled February and for the rest of 2020. Hold those friendships and relationships, family members and all other loved ones close to you. Embrace new friendships, too. Don't overthink the things that make you feel happy. Live life like you're running through a field of flowers on a warm spring day.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
